What will I learn?

The Graduate Certificate in New Venture Management (GCNVM) is comprised of graduate classes currently offered through the Business Administration M.B.A. curriculum. The Graduate Certificate is designed for those students wishing to gain knowledge or update their knowledge in the specific area of New Venture Management. The Graduate Certificate is not a degree program and completion of this program indicates an expertise in a narrow specialty, not general expertise in all areas of business.

Learning Outcomes

Construct feasibility analyses for scalable new ventures.
Develop investor quality business plans that can address the possibility of evolving opportunity as the context changes over time.
Investor quality business plans to guide the funding of new ventures during both the startup phase and ongoing operations.
Develop an operations strategy, involving integrated production and distribution of goods and services as necessary, for scalable new ventures.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

Bachelor’s Degree – You must hold a four-year baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution, or an approved international equivalent. Grade Point Average – You must have a minimum overall grade point average of 2.75 (4.00=A) for your bachelor’s degree, or a minimum 3.00 (4.00=A) for the last two years (60 semester hours).

For international students

Bachelor’s Degree – You must hold a four-year baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution, or an approved international equivalent.

Admission requirements include an undergraduate degree with a GPA of 3.00 or higher, and either relevant work experience or a GMAT of 550 or higher.

International English Language Testing System (IELTS) - Minimum score: 6.5; Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) (Paper-based) Minimum score: 74; (Computer-based) Minimum score: 213; (Internet-based) Minimum score: 80. Michigan Test of English Language Placement (MTELP) - Minimum score: 85; Pearson Test of English (PTE)- Minimum score: 65.

Application Deadline: May 1 for fall semester; Oct. 1 for spring semester.
