About this course

What will I learn?

This multifaceted master's degree allows you to tailor the program in myriad ways: Opt for a professional pathway to become a working journalist or a thesis option to study the impact of media on social, political, economic and cultural events earn a dual degree in Studies of Global Media, Bilingual Journalism and more add a specialty in Digital Journalism, Global Journalism, or Science and Environmental Journalism and learn in real-world situations with practical skills coursework and internships. Courses are taught by faculty who bring experience from BBC World News, The New York Times, The Associated Press, KJZZ radio, ABC 15 News and Reuters.

Entry requirements

For international students

Admissions Requirements:

  • Completion of a minimum of 75 undergraduate credit hours will be required at the time of application to the Accelerated Master's Program ; a minimum of 90 undergraduate credit hours will be required at the time of entry into the AMP. If the student's GPA falls below 3.30 at the time s/he has completed 90 units, the student will not be admitted into the program. Courses taken for audit may not be included in the total number of units counted for eligibility or admission.
  • 3.3 GPA at time of application
  • Statement of purpose
  • CV or résumé
  • 1 writing sample
  • 1 letter of recommendation from a journalism faculty member
