What will I learn?

The Master of Architecture (M.Arch) is a professional degree accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) that prepares students to become licensed architects. But more than this, our M.Arch program develops innovative designers, thinkers and leaders in fields like architecture, sustainability, community development and more. Students enroll in our M.Arch programs from diverse professional and educational backgrounds.

M. Arch 2: For students with a pre-professional undergraduate degree in architecture, the M.Arch program requires 60 credits and two years of study.

M. Arch 3: For students with an undergraduate degree in any other field – examples include geography, film, engineering, mathematics, visual arts, psychology, business – the M.Arch program requires 90 credits and three years of study.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

Applicants for admission to the UWM Graduate School must have the following: A baccalaureate degree or its equivalent as determined by the UWM Centre on International Education, from a regionally accredited institution, completed before the first term of enrolment in the Graduate School. Students applying to approved integrated bachelor’s/master’s programs are exempt from this requirement, A minimum cumulative undergraduate grade point average (GPA) of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale, or an equivalent measure on a grading system that does not use a 4.0 scale.

For international students

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

Cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 (4.0 scale).

M.Arch 2

Pre-professional bachelor’s degree in architecture with 5 architecture design

M.Arch 3

Bachelor’s degree in any discipline.

English proficiency requirement: TOEFL IBT - 79 – 120; IELTS - 6.5 - 9.0; Cambridge English Advanced/Cambridge English Proficiency - C1 level or higher.

PRIORITY Application DEADLINE

M.Arch 2 - January 15 (fall admission), October 1 (spring admission)

M.Arch 3 - January 15 (fall admission only)
