What will I learn?

The Master of Arts degree in German provides advanced education in German with emphasis on language, linguistics, literatures and cultures and the latest methodologies in the teaching of German. , and on linguistics and the latest methodologies in the teaching of German.

The German major comprises the following concentrations:

The Applied Linguistics and Pedagogy concentration is intended primarily for those who are currently teaching in (or wish to teach in) elementary and secondary schools, and for those who wish to increase their effectiveness as teachers.

The Literature concentration is intended for those who wish to purse a doctorate in German literature and culture or simply increase their knowledge of German literature and culture along with their command of the German language.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

Student must have a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Minimum 3.000 graduate GPA on a 4.000 point scale (minimum 3.250 graduate GPA is recommended).

For international students

Student must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Minimum 3.000 undergraduate GPA on a 4.000 point scale. Applicants must obtain a minimum score of TOEFL Paper Based Test is 550 (79 on the Internet based version), the minimum score of MELAB is 77 or IELTS minimum score of 6.5 and the minimum score of PTE academic is 58.
