What will I learn?

The School of Art offers the MFA with an emphasis in metals. Through concentrated study and experimentation, you will focus on your development as a professional artist.

What You Will Study

Total Credit Hours: 60

Your graduate coursework will be guided by your personal inquiry and augmented by close contact with your committee of faculty who you chose. Through your interactions with faculty and peers, you will explore ideas and techniques, interact with visiting artists and critics, and broaden your technical, aesthetic, and conceptual understanding of media within contemporary practice.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

An applicant with a baccalaureate degree not considered the equivalent of that of Ball State University may be considered for probationary admission to a master’s program. An undergraduate cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.75 on a 4.0 scale on credit hours earned from the degree granting institution.

For international students

You must have a bachelor’s degree from an institution recognized by a regional accrediting association.

You must have earned a minimum of a 2.75 GPA from the undergraduate degree-granting institution.

Required Scores to demonstrate English Proficiency: TOEFL iBT 79; IELTS 6.5 Band; Pearson's PTE 53

This program starts in the Fall semester.

You must apply by March 31 (or first business day after) to be considered for admission. This is a rolling deadline. Applicants that apply after this day may still be considered.
