The Master of Science in Aviation (MSA) is designed to help meet the professional growth needs of persons interested in a wide range of aviation careers.

Curriculum

The Master of Science in Aviation – Airport Development and Management requires the satisfactory completion of a minimum of 36 credit hours. Students have the option of either a thesis program of study, or a nonthesis program of study that includes a final program examination with a management or development emphasis.

This master's level aviation program brings students to the forefront of airport technology and management strategies, preparing them to recognize industry trends and challenges. Recognized for having one of the best university-based aviation programs in the nation, Florida Tech ensures that airport management degree students gain a comprehensive background in aviation studies, management and business in order to provide expertise on such issues as airport operations, vendor management, personnel training, aircraft taxi zones, sound barrier creation and more.

The College of Aeronautics’ faculty is comprised of professors who are not only experienced commercial, private, and military pilots but also recognized thought-leaders in aviation and aeronautics. They have authored many textbooks and published considerable research in journals on aviation safety, with topics that include:

Situational awareness and aeronautics decision-making

Airline equipment financing and fleet management

Environmental impacts of airport operations

Dedicated researchers themselves, Florida Tech’s faculty are actively involved in supporting their students’ passion for discovery. Entry requirements

For students from United States

Students looking to enroll in a master's degree program at Florida Tech must hold a bachelor's degree (four-year degree) in a related field from a recognized, regionally accredited college or university (or the international equivalent). Applicants must have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.0 as an undergraduate in order to be considered for admission to a Florida Tech master's degree program.

For international students

The applicant to the Master of Science in Aviation - Airport Development and Management program must have earned a bachelor’s degree, or its equivalent, from an institution of acceptable academic standing. To be considered for admission, the student’s academic and professional record must indicate a high probability the applicant will be able to pursue graduate work satisfactorily. Undergraduate degrees need not be in aviation; however, preparatory coursework may be required in specific areas to assure successful pursuit of the MSA. Such coursework is determined by the College of Aeronautics before admission. The student is advised of any such requirements before final acceptance.

Students whose home language is not English are considered to have demonstrated English language proficiency if they have done any of the following:

Taken an Internet-based TOEFL (iBT) with an earned score of at least 79, an IELTS with an earned score of at least 6.0, a PTE Academic with an earned score of at least 58, a Cambridge English: Advanced with an earned score of at least 180 (Grade of C), an official Florida Tech TOEFL (paper based) with an earned score of at least 550. Application Deadlines: Fall - June 8; Spring - Oct. 14.
