What will I learn?

Learn about the science of behavior and the technology of behavior change by earning a Master of Science in Behavior Analysis. UNT's innovative Behavior Analysis master's degree gives you a broad and deep education in Behavior Analysis, including: knowledge of principles, theory and research methods of applied behavior analysis and the experimental analysis of behavior principles and procedures for systematic application of behavioral technology in natural environments and, practical experience in diverse areas such as neuro-operant interventions, functional analysis, early autism intervention, animal welfare, college teaching and social justice. Behavior Analysis is the study of the effects of the environment on the behavior of individuals. The principles can be used to understand behavior and that understanding can be applied to help a variety of individuals learn and live happy productive lives. They can be applied with any population including children with autism, people with developmental disabilities, parents and children, pets and their owners, college students, healthcare providers, athletes, employers and CEOs.Our program will teach you about both the experimental analysis of behavior and applied behavior analysis which will prepare you for either further study in a doctoral program or a career in a variety of settings. Our coursework will give you a broad understanding of behavior principles while also encouraging the development of specialized skills in specific areas. For example, we offer several courses that focus on autism. Our program also will prepare you for certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. We offer many hands-on learning experiences for students, including working in applied settings with adult learners, children with autism, college students, foreign-language learners, people with developmental disabilities, patients in rehabilitation clinics, and pets and exotic animals.

Entry requirements

For international students

Applicants holding a bachelors degree, its equivalent from a regionally accredited institution, or a three year bachelors degree that meets the vetting criteria of a reputable evaluation agency, are eligible to apply for admission to UNT graduate study.

Successful candidates usually have met certain GPA minima: 3.0 GPA in the undergraduate degree for admission to the Masters program; Or 3.5 GPA in the undergraduate degree for direct admission to Doctoral programs; Or 3.5 GPA in Masters-level studies for admission to Doctoral programs.

English Language Proficiency: Minimum TOEFL score requirement is 79; Minimum IELTS score is 6.0; Minimum PTE score is 53.
