What will I learn?

The Performer Diploma Program is a special curriculum for outstanding students in performance who show promise of becoming concert artists and who do not wish to pursue study leading to an academic degree. The purpose of the diploma program is to provide concentrated study in solo and chamber music literature.


Applied Music

  • Studio study (four semesters, a minimum of 12 credit hours must be earned).
  • Two recitals (2 cr.) or equivalent public performances as assigned by the music faculty must be presented and passed.
  • MUS-X 423 Chamber Music (1 cr. each) (two semesters, required for instrumentalists only)

Entry requirements

For international students

Students should have a high school diploma or its demonstrated equivalent; Demonstrated proficiency in musical performance at a very high level of technical and musical proficiency.

English language Requirements:

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) internet based - 71 or higher

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) paper based - 530 or higher

International English Language Testing System (IELTS) - 6.0 or higher

Pearson Test of English, Academic - 48 or higher

Test in Practical English Proficiency - Pre-1 or higher

SAT I Critical Reading - 450 or higher (or the equivalency on the new evidence-based reading and writing section)

WAEC's Senior Secondary Certificate of Examinations (SSCE) - A or B

Ordinary Level Certificate - A or B

Cambridge International O Levels - C or higher

Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) - A or B
