What will I learn?

The Ph.D. program in Biosystems Analytics and Technology gives you a transformative training experience that integrates intellectual merit with hands-on experience across disciplines including genomics, precision agriculture, data science and engineering technology. You will learn skills in sensors and remote sensing and statistics and bioinformatics and apply these tools to solve real-world problems. The flexible program of study allows you to delve into interests including precision agriculture, remote sensing, water management, statistical informatics, data mining and cyberinfrastructure development. The Ph.D. requires the preparation of a dissertation. Upon graduation, you will be prepared for diverse career choices from academia to industry, with r?m?eady, real-world experience.

Entry requirements

For international students

Candidates who wish to apply must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • To qualify, the applicant must have (or is in the process of obtaining) a four-year undergraduate bachelor's and or Master's degree issued from a regionally accredited institution.
  • At the time of application, candidates must have completed their undergraduate/master's degree or are in the final year of their program, with an expected spring or summer graduation date.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher (4.0 Grading Scale)
  • Candidates who do not meet the minimum GPA requirements applications will not be considered for review.
  • We do accept students with non-STEM degrees. Students who have not completed fundamental coursework may be required to complete supplementary coursework in addition to the 63 units of coursework required to satisfy the PHD degree. Supplementary coursework will be determined by the departmental committee reviewing the application.
  • Undergraduate or Master's degree in related STEM Field-preferred not required.
  • Research experience is not a requirement, but it is desirable.
