What will I learn?

Pre-Nursing courses offer students the opportunity to complete basic foundation general education courses in the humanities, mathematics, and natural and social sciences required for the Traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program at the University of Bridgeport School of Nursing.

Coursework

Pre-Nursing courses are the prerequisite general education courses you take to be eligible to apply for UB’s Traditional BSN. Pre-Nursing majors take general education courses in their freshman year.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

High school students applying as freshmen must fulfill the following requirements: Currently attend a regionally accredited secondary school; Upon graduation will have completed four years of English, two years of Math, one year of College Prep Chemistry with a laboratory, one year of College Prep Biology with a laboratory and courses in social studies; An overall “B” is recommended (a GPA of 3.0 or higher).

For international students

High school students applying as freshmen must fulfill the following requirements: Currently attend a regionally accredited secondary school; Upon graduation will have completed four years of English, two years of Math, one year of College Prep Chemistry with a laboratory, one year of College Prep Biology with a laboratory and courses in social studies; An overall “B” is recommended (a GPA of 3.0 or higher).

Those whose native language is not English are also required to show English language proficiency. You can demonstrate proof of English Language competency by meeting any one of the criteria listed below: A minimum TOEFL score of 500 (PBT), 173 (CBT), or 61 (IBT) for undergraduates; A minimum IELTS (Cambridge Testing) Band score of 6.0 for Undergraduates; An official letter certifying completion of ELS (English Language Service) through level 112; An official letter certifying completion of CSE (The Center for English Studies) through level 7.5; A Michigan English Assessment Battery (MELAB) score of 69 or above for undergraduates; A Prueba de Aptitud Academica (PAA) English achievement score of 500 or above; A minimum Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) score of 44 for undergraduates.
