What will I learn?

The Master of Science in Special Education prepares graduate students to critically analyze and evaluate empirically based research theoretical constructs and philosophical foundations and historical, psychological and sociological issues related to the education of individuals with disabilities. It focuses on analysis and interpretations of policy as related to curriculum, pedagogy and methodology. Specific emphasis is offered in the areas of Early Childhood Special Education, Collaborative-Consultation, Mild/Moderate Disabilities and Moderate/Severe Disabilities. The Department of Special Education is strongly committed to providing a just, equitable, and inclusive education to all students. Our programs are based in conceptual knowledge and asset-based practices integrated with the University mission and College of Education’s conceptual framework of reach, teach, impact.

Entry requirements

For international students

You are eligible to apply as a graduate student if you have earned a degree equivalent to a U.S. bachelor's degree.

You must meet the following requirements:

Above average class standing at an internationally accredited college or university: the equivalent of at least a 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale is recommended.

TOEFL: 550 or 80 iBT

IELTS: 6.5

PTE: 58
