The campus is both the heart of the University and a source of inspiration. It is where friendships are made, collaboration is initiated, and ideas are conceived - and there is always something going on!

Teaching quality

The University of Bayreuth’s students are highly satisfied with the content and quality of their studies and the study conditions. Students rated the quality of their learning environment, such as lecture halls, libraries and laboratories above average. Compared to other countries, they are very satisfied with the access to the teaching materials required for their studies.

In 2019, the University of Bayreuth has once again achieved a top position in the international comparison of young universities. In the 'Young University Ranking' of the British science magazine 'Times Higher Education (THE)', which identifies the world’s 375 best universities younger than 50 years old, the University of Bayreuth has secured an excellent 40th place.

Moreover, the University of Bayreuth is one of the world's leading universities when it comes to sustainability. In the "UI GreenMetric World University Ranking 2019", it came 26th in the global comparison, and third in Germany. 780 universities from 85 countries took part in this ranking which is the first, and so far, only university ranking worldwide based exclusively on sustainability criteria.

The University of Bayreuth has seven high-achieving faculties. They set disciplinary and interdisciplinary priorities that allow the University to stand out from the crowd, both nationally and internationally. The newly founded Faculty of Life Sciences: Food, Nutrition & Health in Kulmbach spreads our spirit of interdisciplinary research beyond the borders of Bayreuth.

Not only do you get your money's worth intellectually - our University Sport gives you a range of opportunities to play sports and stay fit. Moreover, the Franconian Switzerland and the Fichtelgebirge, right on the doorstep of Bayreuth, are ideal for sporting activities: cycling, hiking, climbing, canoeing and paddling or skiing in winter, which enriches the students’ free time.
