Overview

KPJ Healthcare University College (KPJUC) is a leading healthcare education provider in Malaysia, which is fully supported by the Ministry of Health. It was set up in April 1991 as the first private education centre to train students for an international career in healthcare. Now, it has more than 11,000 alumni.

The staff at KPJUC are dedicated, qualified and experienced, and inspire students to achieve their dreams of becoming a nurse, doctor, or other healthcare professional. The university is supported by KPJ Healthcare Berhad, which runs 28 private hospitals across Malaysia. Students here have plenty of chances to gain work experience and find work after they graduate.

KPJUC has three campuses in Penang, Johor Bahru and Nilai, Negeri Sembilan. The university has international links with centres in the UK and Australia, so students get to access even more resources and opportunities.

There are more than 2,500 students at KPJUC and many come from different countries. The Student Services team are there to support everyone with settling in and achieving the best results in their studies.

To be accepted onto an undergraduate programme, students will need to have achieved C grades or above at pre-university level. They should also have a portfolio of work or personal study in their subject, and be able to prove their English proficiency.

Teaching quality

KPJUC has a range of healthcare-related courses. There are 36 different programmes, from diplomas to PhD, for career paths from nursing to healthcare managers. More than 50 per cent of students’ time is spent in healthcare centres, including KPJ’s 26 private hospitals – giving students the edge once they graduate. Timetables are carefully planned so there’s plenty of time for classroom learning too.

Each student is taught to respect all people from all races, cultures, countries and classes and offer their services without judgement. They’re supported by experienced and qualified academics.

Student surveys happen regularly at KPJUC to make sure feedback is being used to improve teaching and to check how happy students are. There are in-house teaching awards voted by the students, which recognise academics that are doing a brilliant job.
