Monash University Malaysia gives students the opportunity to obtain a prestigious Australian degree from the campus in Sunway City, Malaysia. Tuition fees and living expenses are significantly lower than in Australia, but students will be recognised internationally as a member of Monash Alumni.
The institution is ranked in the top 60 universities in the world according to the QS World University Rankings 2021 and is also number 29 on the Times Higher Education list of the World’s Most International Universities 2020.
Monash Malaysia currently has over 8,400 students from 78 different countries, meaning that international students have plenty of opportunity to experience the multicultural campus on offer. There are also 58 student organisations to join, including 21 different sports teams.
There is a vast selection of materials on offer at the on-campus library, and students can also access Monash University Australia’s online resources which includes 139,286 e-journals and over 1.5 million e-books. There are also a variety of religious facilities for students, support for disabled students, counselling services and 24-hour security patrols so students can be sure that their safety will be maintained.
Monash has a trusted Careers Centre, which can help students with building their CV and other programmes that support their job search. Monash students and graduates will also receive exclusive access to the Monash Career Gateway, which is an online job portal that connects them with companies around the world. The institution does everything it can to get students job ready, linking previous students to companies such as Nestle, Unilever and Shell.
Since 2009, over RM 231 million has been awarded to students at Monash University Malaysia in the form of scholarships and other financial aid.
Monash University is currently working on COVID-19 treatments through four projects that include a potential treatment which can be inhaled. The university has been awarded funding of over AUD 1.3 million by the Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF). Monash University has introduced the Master of Applied Engineering programme. Students can choose from specialisations in energy and sustainability, oil and fats processing, and industrial and robotics engineering. Monash Malaysia offers scholarships for students with excellent academic records.
Monash High Achiever Award: Available for new and continuing students who have met the expected scores.
Monash Medicine Bursary: Open to students of the Bachelor of Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine programme. Each bursary offers students a total of RM 50,000 (RM 10,000 per year over a five-year study period).
Monash Pharmacy Equity Scholarship: This awards applicants of the Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) programme a 50% or 100% tuition fee waiver and a stipend for a select few as well.
Monash Pharmacy Excellence scholarship: This offers a 25% or 50% tuition fee waiver for the applicants of the Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) programme.
Monash Equity Scholarship: This offers a 100% tuition fee waiver with a stipend, or a 50% tuition fee waiver for a select few applicants.
Sports Scholarship: Applicable to Malaysian national athletes with a verification letter from the National Sports Council of Malaysia; and offers RM 5,000 tuition fee waiver per semester.
Monash bursaries for Indonesian students: Open to Indonesian students. This applies to all undergraduate courses except Bachelor of Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine and Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours).
Sibling discounts: The sibling paying the higher tuition fees will be eligible for a 10% waiver off his/her semester tuition fees, subject to T&Cs.
Master of Professional Counselling Scholarship: Selected scholars of the program on full time will receive a partial tuition fee waiver.
Graduate Research Pathways Scholarship: This covers partial or 100% tuition fees and is for applicants of the Postgraduate Diploma in Business and Commerce, the Master of Biomedical Science programme, and honours degrees.
Graduate Research Excellence Scholarship: Open to graduate research students pursuing a research master’s degree or doctoral degree, each scholarship comes with a full tuition fee waiver and monthly stipend of RM 2,800.

Students applying to Monash Malaysia must provide evidence of their English language ability prior to admission. The university accepts IELTS or TOEFL scores. Refer to the website for specific English language requirements. Students who do not meet any of the English language requirements are encouraged to pursue the Monash English Bridging programme.
Students must have good English language skills which are necessary for all academic programmes taught at Monash. They can demonstrate their English language proficiency through various means, including:
