A forward-thinking centre of education, Nilai University is an established private tertiary education institution in Malaysia, offering the chance to study for a globally-recognised qualification.

Nilai University offers certificate, honour’s degree, master’s degree and doctoral degree in science and business-related graduate programmes. There are two dynamic faculties where all lectures are delivered in English. Established in 1997, Nilai University is home to a diverse student body of over 50 different countries.

It was rated Tier-5 Excellent in the Setara 2013 ranking (Malaysian Qualifications Agency), and it scored 89 per cent for Teaching & Learning in the Setara 2017 ranking. The university is ranked 17th out of all private Malaysian universities in the Ministry of Higher Education’s 2015 Graduate Employability Tracer Study.

Nilai University’s mission is to provide good education with an invaluable teaching and learning experience, where students are transformed into highly competent and adaptable professionals. Faculties

Faculty of Business, Hospitality & Humanities

The faculty offers internationally recognised tertiary education in various levels of awards-certificate, diploma, degree (Hon) and masters, which prepares students for intellectual expansion and skills for life beyond the varsity.

Specialised programmes offered are in the fields of hospitality, human resource management, marketing, accounting, finance and other business-related programmes.

The dedicated teaching staff in the faculty have vast practical experience in commercial, government and research agencies, and strive to provide students with a holistic learning environment with emphasis on interpersonal skills. Some of the professional recognition for programmes offered includes MIHRM, CIMA, ICAEW and ACCA.

Faculty of Engineering, Science and Technology (FEST)

FEST aims to nurture future leaders in the fields of engineering, biotechnology and computing through rigorous academic curriculum supported by interdisciplinary programmes, innovative projects and hands-on training. Course materials include updates on the latest technology advancements to equip students with skills required to keep up with challenging careers ahead.

The Faculty of Business, Hospitality & Humanities offers a wide range of programmes through its 4 schools and a centre for research and postgraduate studies, namely:

Marketing and management
Accounting and finance
Humanities and social studies

The School of Humanities and Social Studies offers internationally recognised foundation programmes in science and business studies that could be completed in a year. Students could gain a sound understanding in the areas of science, allied health, computing or engineering, plus an overview of the business world. The school also offers an Intensive English Programme (IEP) to prepare students for tertiary education.

The Faculty of Engineering, Science and Technology offers a wide range of diploma and degree programmes through the following schools:

Scholarships & Award

Scholarships & Award

Nilai University offers scholarships to help ease the financial burden of well-deserving international students. Briefly, there are 3 types of scholarships:

High Achiever’s Scholarship (HAS)

This scholarship applies only to degree programmes. Students will be eligible for tuition fee waivers of up to 50%.

Merit Scholarship

This scholarship is applicable for the first programme registered-foundation, diploma or degree. Students may receive a tuition fee waiver within the range of 20% - 40%.

Progression Scholarships

This scholarship applies to students who are advancing from foundation to degree programmes, diploma to advanced diploma or degree programmes, or from degree to postgraduate programmes. Eligible students are entitled to a 20%-30% tuition fee waiver.

Sports Focus Centre – Fencing Award

This is especially created for students gifted in fencing, with a tuition fee waiver of up to 100% for a particular degree programme of choice.

Student life

At Nilai University, students have plenty of recreational options on-campus to relax and take up a new hobby. For those inclined towards sports, there are courts for badminton, tennis, basketball and volleyball. Also, there are spacious lawns for one to enjoy a game of frisbee or other outdoor activities.

President Hall and its adjacent buildings are well-equipped with a range of facilities for indoor sports, a gymnasium and fencing hall. Besides serving as a venue for aerobics, dance and yoga classes, it is also used to host graduation ceremonies and other memorable events. The nearby Nilai Springs Golf and Country Club offers facilities such as a swimming pool and golf course.

Clubs and societies

Nilai University has a few clubs and societies for students to dabble in several recreational, musical and cultural interests on campus. Students will have constructive outlets to showcase their creativity and talents. Alternatively, students could participate in student-led projects which voluntarily lend a helping hand to the less-privileged community.

Student support

The international support team at Nilai University will help to ease the transition for international students from their home country to Malaysia and settling in the university campus. The International Office at Nilai University is a one-stop-centre that facilitates student needs on campus, airport pick-ups, enrolment and accommodation.

Other student support facilities include the Student Care Unit, Counselling Unit, Accommodation Office and an in-house Security Department.

I enjoy making new friends, sometimes go to the Malay stall to have some drinks and chit chatting about the things we hope to share to everyone. The most important advice I’d give to anyone I think might be study hard, study smart. Although study is important do not overlook school activities too.
