The scholarship was established to commemorate a century of flight as well as to support the upcoming generation of experts and pioneers in aerospace in the 21st century.
Ramanujam pursued the initial two years of his education at the University of Southampton Malaysia, studying a Masters of Engineering (MEng) in Johor before he transitioned to the campus in the UK in 2017.
He is presently pursuing his final year as a student of aeronautics and astronautics, with the hope that this scholarship will help him establish a network within the industry of aviation and aerospace.
The University of Southampton has a reputation worldwide for its academic excellence. The university is among the world’s top 100 global universities and ranks 96th in the QS World University Rankings 2019. It was invited by the Ministry of Higher Education in Malaysia to create a branch campus for the field of engineering within EduCity development in Iskandar. This helps more students experience the world-class education the University of Southampton offers.
In the UK, the university is ranked number two for electrical and electronic engineering as well as for mechanical engineering, according to The Guardian University Guide 2018. It is also a leading university in the field of aeronautics and astronautics, which is comprised of a wide range of subject areas in the discipline of aerospace.
