International students can choose from around 50 English taught master’s and bachelor’s programmes, with multiple specialisations in each. In many cases, students have the choice to custom-make their own programme, so students can be sure they are learning about, and researching topics that they are passionate about.

Radboud invests in unique research facilities of international significance. Examples are the combination of magnets and lasers for materials research at HFML­ FELIX and brain scan facilities for research at the Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behaviour, as well as the wealth of research opportunities offered by the Catholic Documentation Centre and the university library’s special collections. Radboud Scholarship Programme

The Radboud Scholarship (RSP) provides a select number of talented non-EEA students a fee reduction to €2,168 and pays for costs for visa and insurance. Most of the English-taught master’s programme students are eligible for the RSP.

The Orange Tulip Scholarship Programme

The Orange Tulip Scholarship (OTS) offers excellent students coming from Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Korea, Mexico, Russia, South Africa and Vietnam the opportunity to pay a lower fee of €2,168. Also, visa and residence permit costs, liability insurance and health insurance are covered. All English-taught master’s programmes are eligible for the OTS.

Holland Scholarship Programme

The Holland Scholarship (HS) gives excellent students the opportunity to study at Radboud University. The HS is open to Albanian, Canadian, American (USA only), Colombian, Iranian, Taiwanese, Turkish and Ukrainian students. All English-taught master’s programmes are eligible for the HS. The scholarship amounts to €5,000.

The Radboud UMC Study Fund

The Radboud University Medical Center Study Fund is a scholarship for excellent students applying for the master’s programmes in biomedical sciences or molecular mechanisms of disease. The grant covers €2,143 for tuition fees and €10,800 for living expenses. This highly selective scholarship is only for the programmes in biomedical sciences and molecular mechanisms of disease.

The city of Nijmegen is a safe and friendly place with a rich social and cultural life. Situated close to the German border, Nijmegen lies on the banks of the river Waal, a branch of the Rhine.

From Roman ruins to architecture from the Dutch golden age and beyond, students can find this city steeped in history and culture.

It’s not just rich cultural history that Nijmegen has to offer. A large number of students, numerous events and festivals, unique hot spots and cosy restaurants all add up to an unprecedented liveliness in the city. Students can go to the city beach next to the river Waal, or relax at one of the numerous sidewalk cafes, restaurants, and much more.

Students can take advantage of Nijmegen’s great location and wonderful transit connections. Major European cities like Amsterdam, Cologne and Brussels are just a train ride away and via the many nearby airports they are well connected to the rest of Europe. Students can also explore their own backyard by foot or bike, riding through the flat fields or hiking in the hills around the city.

A recent survey found that local people regard students as enriching to their city and find them friendly and lively. The students themselves appreciate the green surroundings and the many opportunities that the city offers for relaxation and entertainment. Nijmegen was the European Green Capital in the year 2018.

Why she chose Radboud University

“I was sure I wanted to pursue a master’s degree, and Radboud had the most interesting program in the Netherlands for me! I was looking for something related to education and youth, so it was the perfect match.”

Her favourite spot on campus

“I’m not sure I have one favorite spot, but there quite a few things that I like on the campus. The view from the top of Erasmus building, for instance, is quite nice. I love the trees surrounding the campus - they look beautiful in all seasons. Oh, and this is going to sound a bit funny, but I really like the fact that I study in a building called Spinoza - I enjoyed so much reading his texts during my graduation!”

Favourite thing to do in Nijmegen

“Going out with friends from all over the world: we share experiences as foreigners in the Netherlands and learn a lot about different cultures. And I love dancing, so the Salsa club in the city center is one of my favorite places!”

Her advice to new students

“Question anything you don’t understand! You will probably have a few cultural and/or educational shocks around the university, so don’t be shy in communicating them. You might even find people in a similar situation! I believe exchanging experiences is the best way to have a meaningful educational experience for students and professors alike.”
