Overview

The College of Science, Health and Engineering contains nine schools and 16 departments working across La Trobe's multi-campus operations, offering general and specialist undergraduate, postgraduate and research higher degree courses.

The University, which is one of Australia's pioneering universities for almost 50 years, has a world-leading staff dedicated to achieving significant educational and research outcomes in their fields. The School’s degrees are linked to emerging trends and are designed to prepare students for work in changing environments. It delivers a wide range of general and specialist courses that challenge students to expand their life and learning experiences.

Engaged in both regional and metropolitan communities, with courses offered across the Albury-Wodonga, Bendigo, Bundoora, Franklin St (Melbourne), Mildura, Shepparton and Sydney campuses, students will have access to world-renowned research facilities including the AUD 100 million La Trobe Institute for Molecular Science (LIMS) and the AUD 288 million Centre for AgriBioscience.

The College’s world-class researchers work in collaboration with industry partners and multiple disciplines across the University to deliver significant research outcomes across five thematic areas including building healthy communities, securing food, water and the environment, and transforming human societies.

Schools and Departments

The College of Science, Health and Engineering is comprised of nine schools offering a range of general and specialist undergraduate and postgraduate courses. They include:

  • La Trobe Rural Health School
  • School of Allied Health
  • School of Cancer Medicine
  • School of Life Sciences
  • School of Molecular Sciences
  • School of Nursing and Midwifery
  • School of Psychology and Public Health

Integrated Learning (WIL)

Practical work placements in a real industry setting are offered right across the College of Science, Health and Engineering. In addition to discipline specific subjects, the College also offers a multi-discipline subject.

Undertaking a WIL subject during the students’ education helps them gain real life experience, make valuable industry connections, and gain some insight into the types of work available in their chosen fields after they graduate.

In addition to practical work placement subjects, the College of Science, Health and Engineering also offers students the opportunity to participate in other work-related experiences including industry projects and study tours.
