Eligibility & selection criteria:

  • Graduate students registered full time in any program in the Faculty of Mathematics are eligible. Students who were last registered within the last two academic terms will also be considered.
  • Nominees must be graduate students who have authored a research paper on any topic relevant to the Faculty of Mathematics. Papers may be single authored or multi-authored. The recipients will be selected by the Faculty of Mathematics Research Advisory Committee (RAC) annually in February, based on originality, importance, and potential impact of their research paper, taking into account the contribution by the nominee(s). If two or more graduate students of the Faculty of Mathematics have made significant contributions to a multi-authored paper, then they could be nominated as a group, and if the group is selected then the monetary award will be split equally among them.
  • To be considered, students must be nominated by their supervisor by the due date set by their unit. A complete nomination package will consist of a nomination letter by the supervisor and the research paper.
