Overview

The Singapore Institute Of Technology , Singapore's fifth university, was established in May 2009 by Dr Ng Eng Hen, the Minister for Education and Second Minister for Defence. Having the initiative to provide an optimized upgrading pathway for the polytechnic graduates, the Poly-FSI initiative was introduced. It encourages the polytechnics to collaborate with overseas universities to offer degree programs in niche areas which directly support Singapore's industry and economic development plans. Such tie-ups with foreign universities uplift the polytechnics' capabilities to provide an applied and practice-oriented route of learning at higher levels, translating into a more enriching, learning experience for the students.
