Career
I am a multimedia design student from The One Penang, now working as a motion graphic designer in China, for those who are interested in The One, please give it a try, as they emphasize a lot in creativity and skills. Thanks to them I got myself this opportunity to work with big corporate like Tencent.

The One Academy makes a great ad, not a school
Selection process and gaining admission - Everyone can get into the school if you have the funds. So there's no actual selection process. - Admission process is friendly, perhaps the best thing throughout the whole college life. Funding and scholarships - Fees are overpriced compared to the things you learn. Some classes are complete waste of time and money. - You can try to get their scholarships in the annual top 10 young artist competition which is very competitive. Your study experience (I'm giving my honest opinion based on the course Digital Animation I took) - What the school advertises is NOT what you get in the school. I thought I was going to have classes with expert and masters from overseas as advertised but I was surprised to have classes taught by young graduates from the school and mostly in-house lecturers with little passion in teaching and up-to-date industry experience. - Huge management problem that causes students to stay back for months to work on FYP after end of school. - Students learn nothing much after second year. Third year is almost close to a total waste of time. - 3 years for a diploma is too long. It's not recognized by most schools apart from the few affiliated universities if you're considering a transfer to degree. Your life experience - Life? The One Academy provides no student life for real. If you're expecting fun colorful busy college life, The One is your worst nightmare. No active student society. No proper student lounge. No sports. No cafeteria. It lacks most of the proper school amenities and benefits. Job Prospects - I was told that The One graduates are much sought after in the industry but as a graduate, I'm not sure if I'm industry-prepared. Overall - I'm a person who likes to learn but The One Academy gave me one of the worst learning experience in my life. Sometimes I wonder if I made a mistake choosing Digital Animation course in The One. How I wish The One Academy could put more effort and money in providing a real honest education instead of its dazzling marketing & advertising to live up to its self-boast as "an internationally renowned, top leading art and design institution".
