Good experience as an international student at UCL!

The lectures at UCL are really interesting and the course of studies very helpful since there is also tutoring classes. The teachers are qualified and good at what they're doing. I had a foundation year before I started my degree, a year of preparation for the degree and of language courses, which helped me a lot in getting familiar with what I would deal with in the future. After i finished my foundation year the degree years came pretty easily and I’ve always coped very well. Furthermore, if you do well in your foundation year's exam, scholarships are easy to get, like I do. I've been given a scholarship as a result of my good exam results. Leaving in the campus the first year was a lot of fun, but the life in students' houses is also brilliant since you can meet people and make friends from many parts of the world!

Make fun out of studying!

The teachers at the UCL are quite qualified and I’m really satisfied from the job they're doing but the course of studies is worse than I expected. The courses are very difficult and it needs a lot of studying to pass them. There are not many scholarships and those that exist are difficult to get. The tuitions are very expensive but I guess that is normal for international students. In terms of getting accepted from the university, I didn't encounter many difficulties, it's not really hard to get in. On the experience-abroad side of things I appreciate the internationality of the school. It's pretty easy to make friends from around the world and that's great! I live outside the campus, however, I would suggest living in the campus for the first year, it makes things easier! In general, it's very fun studying here!

There are great opportunities at UCL

UCL is great place to study. Since I came here, I met a lot of people from all over the world and discovered many things. There are many clubs and societies that you can join to participate in many activities. I would definitely recommend UCL to future students.

ONE OF THE TOP FINE ART SCHOOLS IN THE UK!

The international fees are really expensive and there aren't many opportunities for international scholarships but i would still recommend it as a university. I consider UCL's department of fine art as one of the top fine art schools in the UK. It works properly in most aspects, it has a friendly and chill atmosphere and there are many international students from many different ethnicities so you can settle in easily and feel like home right away!

general opinion on UCL

Generally there is a really good environment around the university. The library is pretty good but it has a complicated system and it makes it difficult for students to access. Also, the online system of the university is not particularly good which often results in problems with our selection and registration to courses and delays in e-mails. This is an important issue and needs to be resolved. Since everything is done via the internet nowadays, it’s unacceptable even to have problems like that.

needs yet improvement

The UCL has a lot of interesting conferences all the time (where you can get a lot of free drinks: P ). The facilities however close too early and too many of them need inductions before you can access them (a fundamental disadvantage for students that live in the campus and want to experience the student life abroad). It also takes a long time to book an appointment to get access to the equipment. Generally my Department is pretty good though.

General review

The university libraries are quite resourceful but the computers and the printing machines are not that well-maintained. My lectures up until now have been too theoretical and I believe they could be designed more carefully and with more practical experiments. The personal response system doesn't really help much our study. My overall experience has been average and I wouldn't recommend the university to others.

A great place to study (especially if you are a nerd)

Although it is quite a different system compared to the one in my home country and it can take some time to get used to it all in all it was a very rewarding experience.
UCL is a great university and the majority of the faculty that I have met where excellent and very helpful.
It definately has some issues that can be considered as a challenge for someone studying there, but generally I could say it was a rather positive experience.
