Best decision I ever made

I felt that the University was unique in offering the opportunity to study English/Welsh/NI Law in Scotland. The best thing about English Law at Dundee is the high quality of teaching and academic supervision. There are some really eminent lecturers and professors and it is a unique opportunity to have one of these individuals supervise your dissertation. At Dundee you are encouraged to ask questions and challenge what you are taught, however in order to successfully do this you need to come prepared to classes.
In Level 4 I was elected as Law School President…I had the opportunity to affect decision-making in the University and make significant change to the experience of Law students. Furthermore I then decided to run for election as Deputy President of the Students' Association. I was successfully elected by the student body and had the opportunity to work full-time for a year improving the student experience at Dundee. Had I not taken the chance and gone for Law School President I may not have been where I am today.

A lifetime experience.

The University of Dundee gives you two big learning opportunities; one inside the class and second outside the class.

The seller is the level of diversity in the class, not just in terms of nationality but also in terms of educational background, age, experience, geographical and lingual background. I would say the teaching is very practical. It helps you solve real-industry problems. There is an entrepreneurial society, The Enterprise Gym, which gives you the chance to work on your ideas and helps you connect with the industry's stakeholders.

In terms of costs, Dundee is one of the most affordable cities in the UK. The experience outside the class is just unprecedented. There are various societies which you can join at any time during the year. You will see yourself having bakeshops, arranging excursion trips, planning nights out and representing your culture, food, ideas at multiple platforms. I made life-long friends from all parts of the world during this one year due to the level of interaction facilitated by the Union's initiatives.

All-in-all, it's not just a degree that the University of Dundee offers, it's a lifetime experience.

Choose Dundee.

I came to Dundee for an interview for my course, Architecture. I fell in love with the city, and the student-feel community. The campus was a good size, and everything was within walking distance. But the main reason I chose this University was because I liked the Architecture course layout and the studios.

That you can be as creative as you want, and that you don't have any written exams! Also, you go on exciting trips abroad and get a thorough outlook on architecture in different cities. You need to be fully committed, and are expected to be in the studios every day. Just make sure you get the work done for deadlines, and don't be afraid to ask for help.

It was such a whirlwind. Everything was happening so fast. Friends emerged...and lots of partying was to be had. The city was easy to get adjusted to. Everything was so simple and straight forward.

Amazing place to study

The decision I made to study abroad at the University of Dundee is truly one of the best decisions I have ever made. From the moment I arrived on campus, I felt that the University of Dundee is where I should be and I have felt this way since. The University of Dundee attracts students from around the globe and it has been amazing to meet so many people from so many places and learn about their native country.

I studied Life Sciences at the University of Dundee and having my classes taught to me by experts in their field of study has certainly enriched my learning experience. It has sparked an eagerness to truly grasp the subjects, concepts and material being taught. The excitement and passion my professors have for their research truly radiates when they teach.

Outside the classroom and lab, I became involved in the triathlon club, and was able to share my love of running, swimming, and biking with other members of the club. One of my favourite experiences in Scotland was being able to compete with the triathlon club in the Scottish Aquathon Championships.

Dundee - Ideal city for International Students

I came to Dundee for a year as an exchange student. The quality of the teaching here is very good - the class was not big, so it was good and easy to ask any questions.
My best University experience was the ceilidh dinner because I discovered a lot of things about Dundee and Scotland. I've also enjoyed being involved with the triathlon club and practising sports at the ISE which is a very good place to do sport with a lot of room and machines.Settling in to life here was easy - I was living in a residence which is in the University, so I was close to everything. Welcome Week was also very good at the University with the marquee in front of the Union.

Dundee is a very beautiful city also and I was very happy to be there [it] is an ideal city for international students because there are a lot students coming from all over the world and it is a small city so it is easy to find what you want and you are not lost.

Memorable time

At the beginning I was a little anxious since I did not possess an economic background, but with some extra effort and with the support of the welcoming lecturers I was able to satisfactorily complete all the taught modules of the Masters.Additionally the University offered free English language development courses for international students, which were particularly helpful to develop the essential skills required to improve my performance on the coursework.Furthermore, I enrolled on a German Language course offered by the University during the evenings. This allowed me to increase my language skills while having a pleasant and memorable time.
Overall my time at Dundee was filled with invaluable experiences, students can benefit from a state of the art gym and sport facilities, IT suites, libraries and online books/journals and not to mention the "Student Union" which grants affordable leisure activities and meals. Finally the locals are remarkably friendly and the city vibe is youthful and jovial. There are many things to see and do in Scotland, it is a beautiful country with many wild and natural landscapes.

Renewable Energy at Dundee

Renewable Energy…was a pioneering degree only offered by the University of Dundee, but after attending the open day it was clear that this would not be the only factor in my decision to choose Dundee. The Division of Electronic Engineering, Physics and Renewable Energy boasts some fantastic lecturing staff, who teach to the highest standards, know you on first name terms and are always on hand to answer any questions you may have. Whereas some universities can be quite faceless in their education, with Dundee, it's personal.
Winning the Enterprise Gym Discovery Challenge with my green business idea. This prestigious award was the culmination of four years' hard work. The Enterprise Gym brings students into contact with business gurus from many different backgrounds, and to see their intrigue and hear their advice was a hugely satisfying experience, and one that has put me in touch with many crucial contacts for the near future, both in business and in academia.

Biomedical Research at Dundee

During my BSc Applied Biology in Germany, I had the chance to complete my final year at Dundee University through a partnership program between both Universities…I was told that the biomedical research at Dundee University is one of the best worldwide. What I like about my particular division…is that the environment is very friendly and that I am really happy with my supervisor and lab members. The College of Life Sciences at the University of Dundee in known worldwide for its research in Biomedical Sciences, and my experience here…will give me a strong push forward towards my PhD and career in science.
I found the people quite helpful and friendly, and the transition was not difficult. However, the main thing that made things easier for me was the presence of a Mosque nearby which helped me to freely practice my religion and get to know new friends.I am…a member of the Dundee University Islamic Society, which was awarded most active Islamic Society several times compared to other Universities.

Coming to Dundee the best decision I ever made

The wide range of modules really appealed to me. At Dundee I studied across many different disciplines which meant that I did not have to specialise until I had experienced a broad range of subjects. It is also a leading research university which is great for being up to date with the latest studies.

I was Captain of the Mountain Bike club (2010), Vice Captain of Trampoline club (2009-2010), Vice President of Horse Polo Society (2010) and an active member of the canoe club. Clubs and societies at Dundee welcome everyone, and have given me some of my most treasured memories.

In January 2011 I am continued my 3rd year of study at Australian National University in Canberra. Opportunities like this are open to the majority of Geography students, you just have to enquire at the exchange office.

High Standard Education

I was extremely attracted to the course at Dundee, firstly because it was constantly ranked top 10 in the higher education league tables. Secondly, I love how specialised it is, as very few universities offer such speciality in Earthquake and Offshore Engineering. The course taught me how to solve real-life challenging problems, not to mention the strong industry linkage with my future employer - Subsea 7 [an offshore construction company].I was impressed with the thorough communication with the Course Director prior to the start of the course, during which I was able to express my preference and learn about the teaching contents.
The Career Service in Dundee organises multiple events throughout the year to increase employability for students. These include many employers presenting and meeting students at the University, as well as holding mock-interviews from which I benefited significantly. It has been very helpful and undoubtedly one of the main factors in helping me obtain my upcoming employment as a Graduate Engineer.

If you seek a high-standard education with a peaceful yet inspiring city, then go no further, Dundee is the one!
