University of Glasgow a center of excellence

The selection process of my course was rather easy. The university website and department had the modules the program entailed, which i really needed to know before the start of the program. The lecturers are so good and experienced at what they do. Considering the fact that there is a diversity of student, the lecturers make it their responsiblity for students to understand what they are trying to pass across and are very patient with students who do not understand there accent and try to make sure they understand. Glasgow is a very lovely city, good tourist site and Glasgwegians are very friendly people. There are also part time job opportunities during student year, student benefits are reasonable as well. Personally i love shopping and using your student ID card some really good shops give discounts. Also as a student you are excempted from council tax if you decide to get a private accomodation. Overall my stay in Glasgow has been beautiful, i would encourage not only students but tourists to visit the city.

My Amazing University of Glasgow experience

Studying here has been amazing, the lecturers are approachable and intuitive, I have had a huge mindshift and developed into an amazing scientist. I have also garnered a lot of skills ranging from cutting edge bench research skills, to presentation, entrepreneurial, time management and leadership skills. I have made amazing friends from all over the world, this has really being a defining year in my life.

Outstanding Facilities

I chose the University of Glasgow because of its long history of excellence in research and teaching and its superb research environment with world leading research groups and facilities. The MSc in Chemistry adapts to my needs since it provides the necessary training for going into further research in a PhD program as well as giving the student the tools to work in industry.

Self-study is highly expected for this program and one of the best aspects is the organization of the timetable that allows you to have proper and enough time for study as well as time to participate in extracurricular activities. I practice swimming at the university sports complex, take French classes and I am member of some student societies such as the Great Days Out Society, and explore the surroundings of the city, the Hispanic Society, where I met people interested in my language and culture, and of course the Alchemist Society.

After getting graduated I plan to apply for PhD, both the undergraduate and postgraduate programs at the School of Chemistry are research oriented, and you get support and advice from your professors towards your future career and opportunities.

To anyone interested in enrolling on this program or on a similar one, I would say to make your choice taking as a priority the course program, because that decision can make you the happiest person or the most miserable in university. The facilities may be outstanding and the social life can be incredible but that is not enough. Make sure you choose a program that fits you and your present and future interests!
