Great program to build hands-on experience

I found this program by searching top schools in the US news. I looked into the UW and found this inter-discipline program. Found it pretty interesting after I watched their program videos and course curriculum.

A great study experience!

My family is in Seattle and they recommended the MSTI program. So I searched and find it well suited for me. I have a 1-year of working experience in a tech company and I would like to broaden my skill set. MSTI offers an intensive and multidisciplinary course study experience. Many industry's resources will be available for job hunting.

Awesome faculty; fantastic interdisciplinary program with great opportunities

TL;DR I really enjoyed my experiences at GIX and feel I gained a lot of skills which set me up for a great career.

I learned about GIX from a friend who was going through the first cohort of the program. As I graduated from the third cohort, I got the experience to see the projects and experiences he worked on while in the program, and what awaited him after. Simply put, after seeing the experiences he was able to engage in and create for himself throughout the program, I found myself having similar experiences, but in a completely different way (which was awesome!)

This program is broad and challenging, allowing students to pick up and work on any type of idea or project with the safety and guardrails of the university. I was able to learn about multiple fields outside of my core technology background and gain exposure to a lot of new ideas and technologies at the same time. I learned a lot about myself in the process and that really helped set me up for where I am today.

After going through the program, I was able to kickstart my career quickly by finding a job I love which was based on a lot of the projects/experiences I had at GIX. I feel the freedom of the program helped me discover and tune in more to what I love doing, though that did not necessarily happen solely as a result of the university, rather one's personal drive to achieve and create that experience for oneself. That being said, the conditions, including the faculty, peers, equipment, and overall environment, were the majority of criteria I feel made this possible.

Thanks to all the amazing faculty and peers I shared experiences with at GIX; definitely going to miss that!

Also quick shout out to how agile the faculty and peers have been to be able to participate in this experiential learning program throughout the pandemic. We had several stakeholders whom we never met with in person and at the same time had significant hardware prototyping throughout our projects; all of which were made possible by the effort the faculty members and peers put in to this. We had many responses to the pandemic, and what I saw from this program was overwhelmingly positive in that respect. Kudos to GIX!

Amazing Masters program

I was enrolled in the first cohort of this program and graduated in December 2018.

This program has met my hopes and dreams for a hands-on program that is teaching UX, development of physical and digital products, business and innovation aspects.

The classes were informative, relevant and forward-looking. The things I learned are still impacting me at my job almost 3 years after graduation. I've had 2 high paying jobs after graduation so far, one in a small tech company and another one at a major tech company.

GIX prepared me for doing big things, innovating, working inside interdisciplinary teams, thinking creatively and understanding the field of technology innovation.

Access to machines and the makerspace was a very valuable part of my experience. The GIX makerspace staff was very helpful and helped me learn a lot about each type of machines, materials, and helped explore DIY manufacturing possibilities.

I enjoyed participating in the GIX community of students, professors and mentors and hope to remain connected to this great program.
