The university has been praised by judges for its excellent learning environment. As a result of student surveys, Anglia Ruskin has won a reputable award for its high-quality learning facilities.
Times Higher Education’s data team said Anglia Ruskin was seen as a standout example of a UK university that had excellent learning facilities and demonstrated a strategic use of resources for improvements.
The award was given based on analysis of data collected from a European student survey carried out by THE as part of its World University Rankings.
Professor Roderick Watkins was recently appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of Anglia Ruskin having been closely involved in developing the university’s ten-year strategy.
One of his key tasks as Vice-Chancellor will be to progress the university’s education strategy, which has a clear ambition to foster social mobility – ensuring that an individual’s future must not be defined by their postcode, family income or school, but by their potential. Professor Watkins said:

We have the ability to be a powerful force for change and social good right across the East of England. It’s a great privilege to help shape and focus that energy for the future.
Students are at the heart of the university and Anglia Ruskin delivers an outstanding educational experience. It ranked within the top 250 of the Times Higher Education University Teaching Rankings Europe (2018). The university stood out in the following areas: quality learning facilities, access to learning materials, support for critical thinking, and making it easy to contact lecturers and faculties.
It has also received a TEF Silver award, which reflects the high quality of teaching delivered by its talented staff. The TEF Silver award means that Anglia Ruskin consistently exceeds rigorous national quality requirements for UK higher education. The university enjoys very high levels of student satisfaction and most of its students achieve excellent outcomes.
The university combines the best of face-to-face and digital learning in all its courses, increases work-based opportunities, and offers activities that enhance academic success and employability.

A hub of creative and cultural innovation, this faculty’s research was deemed as world-leading in six areas in the Research Excellence Framework 2014. Its engagement with arts and culture enriches lives and contributes to the UK’s creative economy, worth GBP 17.3 billion, and its students are amongst the most satisfied in the country.
The faculty is the largest provider of health, social care and education courses in the East of England. Having educated nurses, midwives and social workers for over 25 years, its courses have been designed with the students’ careers in mind. Its students learn authentically through the use of state-of-the-art facilities that mirror real-life clinical situations, UK hospital wards and an Early Childhood classroom. The Medicine School is also within this faculty, our Chelmsford campus is home to the first medical school in the county of Essex.
The school offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate business and law courses using advanced learning technologies to ensure students receive a dynamic educational experience. Ranking in the top ten for student satisfaction with teaching (Guardian University Guide, 2017), its courses help students develop, challenge the ordinary and be innovative, giving them the confidence to achieve their ambitions and prepare for their career.
The faculty combines the theory and practical skills students need for a rewarding career. Here, students will learn in the latest laboratories, or on field trips and work placements with leading organisations.

At Anglia Ruskin University, students can take advantage of the recent and future investment across the campuses. More than GBP 100 million has already been put into place to improve the university’s facilities.
Facilities include the Anglia Law School Clinic, a Science Centre, medical science SuperLabs, paramedic skills labs, TV studios, engineering labs, and much more. There is also a library and IT facilities offering countless learning resources.
Construction is well underway in Chelmsford and when completed, the new building will house specialist simulation rooms and an anatomy suite.
On the Cambridge campus, students will find the renowned Ruskin Gallery, which stages a programme of free exhibitions throughout the year. A stone's throw from the gallery is the Mumford Theatre, which plays host to a fantastic array of shows from comedy and lunchtime music concerts, to drama and pantomime.
There are several scholarships aimed to benefit international students at Anglia Ruskin University. This includes, but is not limited to:
International students must apply for this scholarship worth GBP 4,000. Students must be able to demonstrate exceptional academic and extra-curricular achievement.
Eligible students will receive an award of GBP 1,000 –2,000 to help them with their tuition fees. Students are not required to apply for the award as they will be automatically considered on admission.
Eligible students who pay their tuition fees early will receive a GBP 400–1,000 early payment discount. Students are not required to apply for the discount as they will be automatically considered on admission.
Eligible students will receive an award of GBP 3,000 if they have previously completed a degree at Anglia Ruskin University, and are applying for either a full-time taught master’s degree, a full-time research degree or a Legal Practice programme.
