About ARU

Anglia Ruskin University’s (ARU) roots date back to 1858, when John Ruskin opened its Cambridge School of Art and now ARU is a global university. Students from 185 countries choose to study with ARU. From day one, ARU helps students work towards their ambitions, graduating with industry-recognised qualifications.

At ARU, students will be part of a thriving academic community, led by inspiring, award-winning tutors. They will also benefit from strong industry links, including opportunities for mentorships and internships. And if they’ve got a business idea, ARU has got a Start-Up Lab, mentoring programme and other enterprising initiatives to sharpen it. All reasons why the University was named the UK Entrepreneurial University of the Year at the Times Higher Education Awards, 2014.

As one of the largest universities in the East of England, students can certainly explore their options. They can choose from campuses in three vibrant cities, at Cambridge, Peterborough & Chelmsford.

With a proactive Students’ Union, supporting 140 clubs and societies, students will feel part of university life as they work towards getting a good degree.

ARU helps students achieve their ambitions, supports students throughout their studies and helps prepare them for life after university.  ARU will help students get a good degree and make friends and networks for life.

Why on Earth are their rankings so low?

They have been great upto now. Admissions was very helpful, the most helpful of any of the unis I applied for and if they didnt have info, they asked for it. The program is very vocationally focused. And the uni seems very active in the community, more than the rest.

Social policy great subject

The City Cambridge was a great place to live and study. The university course was well equipped and lecturers were extremely accommodating. However the university experience itself in terms or activities and socialising was poor.
