Cardiff Metropolitan has recently launched its much-anticipated Cardiff School of Technologies. The School of Technologies is partnered with technology-focused companies across the Cardiff Capital Region to support their plans for expansion with 'work ready' graduates. Areas of study include data science, cyber security, mobile computing, artificial intelligence and systems engineering.
The university has also climbed the league tables in both the Complete University Guide and the Guardian University Guide, reflecting high levels of graduate employment, research quality and student satisfaction. It has also been recognised on the International stage, receiving the Comprehensive Internationalisation Badge from the International Association of Universities.
Closer to home, the university has continued its commitment to sustainability. Cardiff Metropolitan has been named the best university in Wales, and 8th in the UK for sustainability in the annual People and Planet University League. This sustainability includes a successful commitment to using 100% green electricity since October 2017, generated entirely from renewable sources such as wind, photovoltaic and landfill and biomass gasses.
Cardiff Metropolitan has continued to invest in its facilities, and in 2017 opened a brand-new GBP 2.4 million Outdoor Athletics Arena, to accompany the existing National Indoor Athletics Centre at the School of Sport and Health Sciences. Along with the launch of the first-of-its-kind Sports Broadcast MSc, the school continues to offer world class training to sports professionals on and off the pitch.
The university was awarded a Silver Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) rating in the recent results published by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE). Cardiff Metropolitan University joins three other universities in Wales with this remarkable achievement, including Cardiff and Swansea University.
When a university receives a silver TEF rating, it means that it has shown evidence of excellent performance and has a high-quality reputation.
The Quality Assurance Agency (QAA), the independent body entrusted with monitoring and advising on standards and quality in UK higher education, has confirmed that the academic standards and quality of provision at Cardiff Metropolitan University meets UK expectations.

It works as a team to develop, support and enhance student learning, with colleagues across the university, to promote the highest standards in learning and teaching. This is achieved by raising awareness of current issues and progressing the scholarship of learning and teaching.

In the School of Art & Design, the courses have been designed to enable students to choose how they want their talent to develop. Students can elect a business focus for their work, and concentrate on exploring the cutting edge techniques and styles of their chosen subject, or challenge themselves to take their work to new heights in completely new directions. The school has workshops and extensive studio space for students to use, ensuring they can work as professionals from the very start of their studies.
Located on the Cyncoed and Llandaff campus, the school is split into 3 departments: Humanities, Professional Development and Initial Teacher Education. With a reputation for excellence worldwide, the school has been instructing Initial Teacher Education for over 60 years. The school is built of over 90 full time teaching staff, and visiting lecturers who are experts in their fields.
Based across both of the university campuses, Cardiff Metropolitan continues to improve the study of Sport and Health Sciences. The Cyncoed campus is solely devoted to Sport and Health Science and boasts of state-of the-art facilities for students to learn and develop their skills. The School continues to advance its current expertise, whilst also creating new collaborations between sport and health.
Based in the heart of Cardiff, the School of Management offers a wide range of programmes carefully designed to help students to develop skills and knowledge most desired by employers. Students are supported to gain independence and confidence, and encouraged to make things happen!
Launched in 2018, the School of Technologies works carefully with companies and employers across the tech industry to create courses of study that meet the student demand and employer need in the sector. The school consists of leading lecturers and researchers in software engineering, digital design and development and computer science.
The International Office at Cardiff Metropolitan has extensive knowledge of all levels of International Qualification, and offers guidance to individual students looking to join the university. The entry requirements are competitive and fair. As well as academic entry requirements, Cardiff Metropolitan University accepts a number of different English Language qualifications. Apart from the Secure English Language Tests (SELTS) which are supported by the UKVI for entry to the UK, the university offers a number of different English Language assessments methods. These include exemptions for students who have specific English Language Exams at School in their Home Country, and also the Cardiff Met Global English Testing Services (GETS) Test in place of an external English Language Test.
The GETS Higher allows students to demonstrate that they are of a B2 level in all key language components. Successful completion of the GETS Higher meets the English Language Requirements for Cardiff Metropolitan University undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
Cardiff Metropolitan University believes all students deserve the opportunity to enhance their career prospects, irrespective of their financial situation. All international students paying the full fee are automatically eligible and considered for the university’s scholarships.

Students from South East Asia can also access the Cardiff Met South East Asia Scholarship. Awarded to the highest scoring applicants, this scholarship offer a 50 percent discount across any taught undergraduate or postgraduate programmes which start in September 2020.
Cardiff Met University believes that employability means developing students to be able manage their own career path, making a positive contribution to the economy and society. The university works in partnership with the students to install the Cardiff Met EDGE. The EDGE is a series of Ethical, Digital, Global and Entrepreneurial skills designed to enhance student’s confidence, resilience and experiences to prepare them for life after university and the transition into employment.
The university offers high quality courses that have strong links with industry, and gives the opportunity for students to gain meaningful work experience. There are also extensive opportunities for personal and career development.
With the help of the Careers Service, and the institutions focus on employability and graduate opportunities, 95% of Cardiff Metropolitan graduates enter employment or further study within six months of graduation, according to the Destination of Leavers from Higher Education (DLHE) Survey in 2016.
