City, University of London was awarded a prestigious silver award in the 2017 Teaching Excellence Framework. The award acknowledges high-quality teaching and student outcomes. In addition, the Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2014 rated 76 per cent of City's submissions as being of world-leading and of internationally excellent quality.
With over 60 undergraduate and 150 taught postgraduate degree courses on offer across five specialist schools, City has a wide range of study options for students to choose from. Many degrees are designed to meet sector standards, with a significant number accredited by professional bodies.
City also offers postgraduate research programmes across 70 different specialist research centres. The university has been at the forefront of pioneering research for over a century and continues to develop new areas of national and international importance.

The university accepts a wide range of overseas qualifications. Students whose qualifications don’t qualify for direct entry may have the option to undertake a preparatory course.
City has several successful partnership arrangements that offer preparatory courses for students seeking entry to undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. Successful completion at the required level from one of City’s partners providers will guarantee a student’s entry onto City’s degrees.
If a student’s first language is not English, they will be required to demonstrate their English ability is sufficient to undertake degree-level study. English language requirements vary by degree and detailed information can be found on the university’s course webpages.
If students do not meet the English language requirements of a course, they can enrol onto a pre-sessional English language course prior to the start of their intended course of study, delivered by INTO City.
As part of the university’s commitment to academic excellence, City has invested GBP 120 million in structural campus developments since 2012 to ensure students have a rich and varied learning experience. This also includes investments in world-class facilities and state-of-the-art equipment across its academic schools to enable students to develop their skills and be prepared for their future careers.
City’s main campus also houses the main university library which contains over 1,500 individual study spaces and around 200 spaces for group study. The main library and specialist libraries for Cass Business School and The City Law School offer extensive opening hours with a range of e-books, online journals and databases available online.
CitySport, the university’s sports centre, is the largest student sports facility in central London. It offers discounted membership fees for students, the latest fitness equipment across 3,000 square metres of floor space, a wide range of fitness, dance, martial arts and wellbeing classes to suit everyone, and olympic-standard sports hall for team and solo sports.
International students coming to study at City for the full academic year are eligible to apply for accommodation in nominated halls of residence. City also works with a number of third-party housing providers who offer safe and modern accommodation options nearby to the university campus.
