International students can find a variety of different pathway programmes at INTO Newcastle University that will help them reach their goals:

International Foundation – students can develop their academic and English language knowledge and skills, and prepare for direct entry onto the first year of an undergraduate course.
International Year One – equivalent to the first year of an undergraduate course, students can work on their academic, research and English language skills whilst preparing to progress directly onto the second year of an undergraduate course.
Graduate Diploma – students can improve their academic, research and English language skills and be ready to enter directly onto a postgraduate course.
English Language Courses – prepare students for further academic study.

Average tuition fees for undergraduate and postgraduate INTO students for three-term pathways in 2019–20 are GBP 18,995 to GBP 19,995. Accommodation costs for three-term pathways in 2019–20 range from GBP 5,600 to GBP 8,930.

Teaching quality

Personal Tutors

All students are assigned a Personal Tutor who they meet up with for tutorials throughout the academic year. Personal Tutors assist international students with settling into student life, offer academic advice, support with progress, and are available to offer support or refer students to the appropriate support services.

Language support

Entry requirements

To be eligible for study at INTO Newcastle University, students will need to meet a small number of entry requirements.

International Foundation

Academic requirements – students will need to have completed 12 years of school (or equivalent) and have finished with good grades. Some programmes require students to provide a portfolio.
English language requirements – students will need a minimum IELTS score of 5.0-6.0, or equivalent.

International Year One

Academic requirements – depending on the course, students will need satisfactory completion of certain A-Levels, completion of an accepted Foundation course or good grades in the first year of an overseas degree. Some programmes require students to provide a portfolio.
English language requirements – students will need a minimum IELTS score of 5.5-6.0, or equivalent.

Graduate Diploma

Academic requirements – depending on the course, students will need to have completed their first degree, a diploma or equivalent. There are also subject-specific requirements.
English language requirements – students will need a minimum IELTS score of 5.0-5.5, or equivalent.

English Language Courses

Academic requirements – depending on the course, students will usually need an offer of a place to study at INTO Newcastle University. Extended programmes which incorporate a term of Academic English into the pathway are offered. Those who cannot meet the English language requirements may be eligible for the Academic English course.
English language requirements – depending on the start date and course length, students will need a minimum IELTS score of 3.0-6.0, or equivalent.

INTO Centre

The INTO Centre offers a safe and modern environment with everything students need for learning and living. This includes modern study facilities, accommodation and spaces for socialising or relaxing. Learning resources include digital whiteboards, a versatile lecture theatre, online learning support and much more.

Learning Resource Centre

Dedicated to INTO students, the Learning Resource Centre has a wealth of resources ready for international students to use to aid their learning. This ranges from DVDs and newspapers to printing and scanning facilities.

University facilities

INTO students are able to make use of Newcastle University’s top facilities, such as the Philip Robinson Library, the Sports Centre, and the Students’ Union.

Accommodation

International students can choose to stay in modern, secure on-campus housing, where there is 24/7 support and a range of facilities. Alternatively, they can opt to live in a local homestay, where students can experience what life is like in the UK.

INTO Café

There is a friendly café for all to enjoy hot and cold food and drinks. A variety of international cuisines are available, suiting most dietary requirements and preferences.

Scholarships & funding

To help international students with their tuition fees and living expenses, INTO Newcastle University has a number of scholarships in place. The following is what is available for the 2019–20 academic year:

International Foundation Scholarship

Students with an unconditional offer to start an International Foundation pathway may be eligible to receive a scholarship of GBP 10,000 – GBP 20,000. The scholarship comes as a tuition fee discount, and to receive the full scholarship, students need to progress onto a Newcastle University degree course.

Regional Scholarship

INTO students starting an International Foundation, International Year One or Graduate Diploma pathway may be eligible to receive a scholarship of GBP 2,500 to go towards their tuition fees. This award is based on academic excellence.

Furthermore, their outlook system is very easy to use, and their IT system allows many types of online payments of fees.

Use the university Library, the place is very large, quiet and you should have enough materials from books to learn all you need to know.
