About Plymouth College of Art

Founded in 1856, Plymouth College of Art is an art school run by artists and designers, for artists and designers. It is home to a dynamic, cross-disciplinary community of makers and thinkers for whom making is as important as reading and writing, and where the purpose of learning is inseparable from that of living life. It is a place for making things, making things happen, and making a difference.

Social justice, through community impact and social mobility, and creative learning, through pedagogical innovation, are part of the college’s DNA and at the heart of everything that it does. The college provides a platform and a space where people come together, explore new horizons, and push the boundaries of creative practice.

Plymouth College of Art currently has 24 European partner universities in Hungary, Spain, France, Germany, Cyprus, Slovakia and Iceland. Its commitment to cultural exchange sees artists such as internationally renowned ceramicist, Kanghyo Lee perform at their research symposium, Making Futures; and legendary film producer, Jan Harlan visit to speak with students.
