Teesside University recently invested GBP 270 million into the Middlesbrough campus on student spaces and state-of-the-art facilities. These include a refurbished library and teaching spaces with exceptional facilities. New spaces on campus also include Campus Heart, a new outdoor space for events and activities.
The bioscience centre, National Horizons Centre, a state-of-the-art facility for School of Science, Engineering & Design students, opened in early 2019. The centre is based at the Darlington Campus and includes a number of world-class laboratories open to businesses, researchers, graduates and students, serving the future of bio-based industries in the UK.
The Business School also opened its new home in September 2018 and over the next ten years, the university will continue to invest over GBP 300 million in campus spaces through the Campus Masterplan, on projects including:
Student Life Building set for completion in 2019, housing all students’ services in one location including a new employability centre to promote graduate outcomes.
Teesside University combines excellent teaching and research with practical skills. Students have the opportunity to work with both highly qualified teaching staff and industry professionals.

At the Business School, all undergraduate students based on the main campus have the chance to do work-related experience or to study abroad, and the school has a good relationship with leading global organisations such as Siemens, TedX and Visualsoft, as well as regional partners such as Middlesbrough FC.
The School of Computing & Digital Technologies runs Animex, a world-class games and animation event. The annual conference of workshops, talks, screenings, exhibitions and demonstrations emphasises networking between students, graduates and the industry, who send representatives and talent recruiters to the event.
The university received a silver rating in the Government’s 2017 Teaching Excellence Framework* (138 universities were rated).
It was also listed in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2019-20* list of the top 1,000 universities in the world.
There are six schools that make up Teesside University:
A centre of excellence in the creative and technical aspects of computing, media and the digital arts.
Courses in subjects such as Midwifery, Sports Therapy, Social Care and Nursing Studies. Excellent facilities including theatre suites, a dental clinic and a hydrotherapy pool.
Students can gain exceptional experience, using the gallery as a platform, cultural hub and creative resource.
Courses include Forensic Science, Aerospace Engineering and Civil Engineering, with emphasis on skills needed by employers.
A traditional portfolio of courses such as history, education, psychology, law and policing, alongside courses focusing on workforce development such as Professional Policing.
Blending theory and practice to create employable graduates, courses include Business Management, Tourism, Economics, Project Management and International Business.
International Students may be eligible for a number of scholarships including:
A scholarship of GBP 1,000 or GBP 1,500 in their first year of study for a foundation, undergraduate or postgraduate programme, open to students who show an aptitude for English or who have higher than average grades.
The Vice Chancellor’s Scholarship awards a one-off payment of GBP 3,000 to waive first year fees for an international student who shows in their scholarship application that they have the commitment to become a future global leader and changemaker.
The university offers a discount to international fee-paying students who pay their fees in advance of enrolment, and a staying-on bonus of up to GBP 1,000 for international students studying an undergraduate course who progress to postgraduate study and apply directly.

The Students’ Union is both a social space for students to meet on campus as well as a space for advice, support and care for those who need it.
The university recently invested GBP 7 million to transform the library. It includes group work spaces, silent study space, a café and access to a wide range of resources. It is open 24/7 for student use.
The on-campus gym includes cardio, weight areas, a sprint track and studios for classes and treatments, putting wellbeing at the heart of campus life.
This distinctive five-storey teaching building includes lecture theatres, seminar rooms and learning spaces, and is where many campus classes are based, as well as another campus café.
There are several innovative teaching spaces on campus which offer digital and traditional learning. Teesside has industry standard equipment in a variety of labs, studios and workshops. Supervised by skilled technicians across a range of disciplines, students have the opportunity to gain hands-on practical experience alongside learning.
Teesside University has an excellent careers service, which helps to put students on the right path from their degree to their chosen profession. This can include careers fairs, events, drop-in sessions, work experience and mentoring with local employers.
