Established in 1966, the University of Bath offers its students a world-class education, with excellent facilities and an idyllic campus location. Bath has just been named University of the Year 2023 by the Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide.
As a research-led institution, the university specialises in engineering, management, humanities, science, and social science courses. Bath is home to a diverse community, with 32 per cent students enrolled at the university coming from outside the UK and representing over 147 nationalities worldwide.
The university’s peaceful campus is based in South West England. The institution received an 86 per cent student satisfaction rating in the National Student Survey 2022 and the campus provides a vibrant students scene while the bustling city of Bath offers plenty of pubs, clubs and bars nearby. Students can also relax by the beautiful riverside and surrounding green spaces.

International students can either live on the university’s campus or in accommodation within the city itself. Transport is affordable and easy, with cheap, quick bus routes between the city and campus. Students are also well connected to London, which is less than 90 minutes away by train.

International students can apply for a range of scholarships to support them with their studies. Undergraduate scholarships and Postgraduate scholarships are available. These include:
A tuition fee waiver worth up to GBP 2,000 is available for first-year international students who demonstrate academic excellence.
A tuition fee waiver worth GBP 5,000 is awarded to eligible international students studying for a master’s degree at the university. Applicants need to demonstrate strong academic credentials and background of achievement and success.
A grant of GBP 5,000 is awarded for international master’s degree students who demonstrate exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. The award is a tuition fee waiver and requires that the recipients will also showcase leadership potential.
Up to GBP 6,000 tuition fee waiver for first-year international students who demonstrate academic excellence in the IB.
Ten female students who accept a paid industrial placement at J.P. Morgan’s technology department as a software engineer will receive this scholarship. It is valued at GBP 3,000 for each year of study up to three years.
International applicants must be able to demonstrate proficiency in the English language. These requirements are in place to ensure students can cope with and benefit from their chosen academic course.

The University of Bath also accepts other language tests, and applicants must achieve equivalent results. Tests must have been taken within the 24 to 30 months prior to the intended course start date.

International applicants who don’t meet Bath’s English language requirements can attend a pre-sessional course. The pre-sessional course helps students become ready to pursue degree-level studies though improving speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.
The university also runs an International Foundation Year for international students who don’t meet the academic requirements of an undergraduate course. Delivered by the university’s partner institution, Bath College, this full-time course lasts one year. Once completed, students can directly progress onto their chosen course.
Over the past decade, the University of Bath has invested over GBP 450 million in a range of high-quality facilities for its main campus. This includes a GBP 10.9 million arts and management building, and a GBP 30 million Sports Training Village. Students can take a tour through one of the university’s virtual open days.
