As a global university, Bristol offers state-of-the-art facilities. The University continually invests in its buildings, resources and technology to ensure students get the very best student experience. On campus, all students have access to 24-hour libraries, extensive IT spaces and purpose-built study centres.
Faculties and departments also benefit from significant investment. Recent developments include the £56.5 million Life Sciences Building and the Centre for Nanoscience and Quantum Information – the quietest building in the world.
Sports and activities
The University’s extensive on-campus sports facilities include a fully equipped gym, large sports hall and swimming pool. The off-campus sports complex offers grass and artificial pitches, an Olympic weightlifting gym and an indoor tennis centre.
Bristol students can join more than 70 sports clubs or compete in inter-university leagues. Student athletes can join the Performance Sport programme, which helps them combine a sporting career with academic study.
There are also plenty of opportunities to play sport for fun and keep fit, in the Intramural Programme or by taking part in low-cost, beginner-friendly classes.
Accommodation
All new first-year international undergraduates and postgraduates are guaranteed a place in University accommodation (subject to conditions).
More than 6,500 places are available for students across three locations. There is accommodation to suit all tastes, from shared Georgian townhouses to large, modern residences right in the city centre.
Every residence provides internet, 24-hour security and pastoral support, including a network of senior students who support residential life and wellbeing. Most residences have a common room, and many have study rooms, launderette and bike storage.
