I chose to study in the UK for a few reasons: I did my O Levels and A levels in Pakistan so I was familiar with the British education system, the fact that UK is not as far away from Pakistan as USA/Canada and Australia was a crucial factor as well. The one year duration of the MBA programme was also an advantage as I did not want to have a long career break. Getting a globally recognised degree that will improve my career prospects was a key objective and the opportunity to experience different culture and lifestyle a bonus! Shortly after arrival at the University of Chester, I visited Career Services; the staff re-designed my CV and gave me valuable advice on my CV content. I also attended a number of training sessions, such as Project Management, organised by the University that are aimed at enhancing employability prospects. In April 2013 I participated in the "Collaborate” event at Riverside Innovation Centre (RIC) getting a chance to attend hands on sessions about various business topics (business planning, start-up costs, action planning, funding etc) and network with other entrepreneurs. As a result I was invited to feature in the advert campaign for the RIC. The MBA course is very demanding; but I have been Volunteering as the University's Student Ambassador, helping out with Open Days and other events. show less
