The Salford University campus is at the centre of a huge GBP 650 million regeneration project in the local area, reaping the benefits of developing facilities with a focus on being a forward-looking university.
State-of-the-art facilities and technology are included in the recently opened Adelphi Building, the flagship landmark of campus investment at Salford. The modern, eye-catching building was a key part of the transformation of Chapman Square, housing the School of Arts and Media and providing space for other subjects. Facilities include a theatre, record studio, photography studio, performance and rehearsal spaces, computer suites, lecture theatres and cafes.
There has also been significant investment in new accommodation, with a brand new purpose-built building overlooking Peel Park in the centre of the main campus. The Peel Park Quarter houses over 1,300 bedrooms, offering en-suite facilities, kitchen and lounge spaces as well as communal areas including cinema, gym, TV and games room, group study lounges and a launderette.
With over 2,500 staff catering for the needs of students, Salford provides outstanding teaching quality to students across its wide range of subjects. It was ranked in the top 200 in the 2018 European Teaching Rankings (Times Higher Education), signalling the high level of teaching provided to students. With all Salford courses taught and assessed in English, international students must demonstrate a certain level of English language proficiency. Individual courses have specific requirements which should be checked by viewing course pages before applying. A range of qualifications can be accepted, although the IELTS is used as a baseline for the level required. A general guide for admission to Salford is as follows:
Undergraduate courses - IELTS 6.0 (with a minimum 5.5 in each section) or equivalent
Postgraduate courses - IELTS 6.5 (with a minimum 5.5 in each section) or equivalent
International Foundation Year - IELTS 4.5 (with a minimum 4.0 in each component) in UKVI IELTS for UKVI (Academic)

Applicants needing a Tier 4 visa may need evidence of a Secure English Language test rather than an examination or qualification in order to meet visa requirements.
The International Foundation Year offers a method for students not quite at the required level of English language proficiency to study a mixture of subject-specific content, English Language classes and academic study skills to fully prepare for entry into an undergraduate degree.
More than GBP 5 million of funding has been handed out by Salford over the past five years in the form of scholarships and bursaries to support high-achieving students.
Students can apply for awards of varying amounts based on numerous factors from academic achievement to extracurricular success, country of origin and work with global partner organisations. A number of automatic scholarships are also offered for students with outstanding academic grades.
One of the main scholarships offered to international students is the Salford International Excellence Award, aiming to support talented, inspiring and creating students with a goal of being future leaders.
This scholarship supports a range of talented, inspiring and creative international students who aim to be the leaders of the future. It ranges from GBP 1,000 to GBP 5,000 with offer holders encouraged to apply, particularly if they are from a region with no specific scholarship available, have an offer to study an undergraduate programme and having gained advanced entry, have talents which complement the International Collaboration Zone strategy and have professional experience via work, extra-curricular activities, or creative or entrepreneurial projects.
With huge levels of recent investment, Salford offers top-class facilities, including the recently-opened Adelphi Building and the new Peel Park Quarter student accommodation complex.
Amongst the other outstanding facilities is the main Clifford Whitworth Library, recently boosted by a GBP 6.2 million refurbishment, including a ‘library in the park’. The library is open 24/7, providing group study spaces, quiet areas, PCs, Macs and laptop loans as well as dedicated support staff providing a range of study skills sessions.
There is also a Sports Centre offering fitness rooms, strength and conditioning facilities and a 25 metre swimming pool complete with spa and sauna. There is also a multi-use sports hall also offering various classes as well as a health club providing discounted massage treatments.
