The University of Surrey was established in 1966 but its roots stretch back to a late nineteenth-century mission to provide access to higher education for the poorer inhabitants of London.
The university is a global community in a vibrant campus setting, dedicated to high-impact education and research. The University of Surrey actively pursues international engagement through a network of mutually beneficial partnerships all over the world, which provides students with international experiences and opportunities to enhance their employability prospects. 94% of graduates, and 89% of international graduates, are in employment or further study 15 months after graduating. This figure rises to an impressive 97% for those graduates who took a placement whilst at Surrey (Graduate Outcomes 2025, HESA).
The university’s campus has been transformed over the years thanks to significant investments in upgrading facilities and amenities, including student accommodation, a sports park, the library and learning centre, a 5G/6G Innovation Centre – among the world’s first of its kind, and more.
