Overview

The University of the West of Scotland (UWS) was formed by the merger of the University of Paisley and Bell College. It is Scotland’s biggest modern university with campuses in Ayr, Dumfries, Hamilton and Paisley. With more than 18,000 students and 2,000 staff members, the university offers an extensive range of programmes, from degree and certificate level to MSc programmes. The university has seven academic schools: Business; Computing; Education; Engineering and Science; Health, Nursing and Midwifery; Media, Language and Music; and Social Sciences. UWS was ranked second in the UK for social inclusion and in the top 100 for teaching quality, research quality and graduate prospects by The Times/The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2022. The university shapes the economic, cultural and social development of the west of Scotland by providing top quality higher education complemented by innovative research.
