About Agnes Scott

Agnes Scott College, an independent undergraduate college in downtown Decatur, Georgia, has inspired students to discover new opportunities and challenges through a liberal arts education in a setting dedicated to women since 1889.

Agnes Scott has reinvented liberal arts teaching and learning for the 21st century through its groundbreaking SUMMIT program. As part of SUMMIT, every student completes coursework focused on global learning and leadership development, and builds a personal board of advisors, including a career mentor to help her make informed course and career choices. SUMMIT offers students hands-on leadership and global learning opportunities through course work, seminars, faculty-led global trips in the first-year, short and long-term study abroad options, foreign language study, and internships. The innovation behind SUMMIT has earned Agnes Scott 4th Rank in the ‘Most Innovative Schools’ category of U.S. News & World Report’s 2017 edition of Best Colleges.

Agnes Scott currently enrolls 915 students including international students from more than 30 countries. The student to faculty ratio is 11:1 and 100% of tenured faculty have a Ph.D. or other terminal degrees. The College offers 34 undergraduate majors and 31 minors and is affiliated with numerous institutions, including Georgia Institute of Technology and Emory University School of Nursing. Students who graduate from Agnes Scott receive a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science degree.
