Central New Mexico Community College (CNM) is located in beautiful Albuquerque, New Mexico. It offers affordable higher education and the chance for international students to improve their English language skills and settle into life in the U.S.
Established in 1964, CNM was formerly known as the Technical Vocational Institute. Awarded degree-granting power in 1986, today it is a nationally accredited institution which provides associate degrees, professional certificates and training options. Over 100 academic programs in a variety of different subjects are on offer.
Students can benefit from the transfer programs available. After students finish their studies with CNM, they can progress to a four-year institution to complete their bachelor’s degree. An added benefit is the extremely competitive total Cost of Attendance (COA) for international students, estimated at USD 19,168 for nine months. Savings can amount to between 20% and 80% when compared to four-year universities and colleges.

Campus safety is paramount to CNM. There is a security team working all day every day in order to create a campus environment that the entire college community feels safe and secure in.
There are many things that the team does to ensure campus safety. Security officers can be found in all areas of campus on foot, bicycle or official security vehicles, working hard to protect the college community.
Chief of Security, John Corvino commented “We have our ‘Hello Campaign,’ where our officers are required to stop and have a conversation with students, staff, faculty and visitors on campus. This really helps us cultivate a better sense of community. By embedding ourselves within the community, we are fostering a safer learning and working environment for everybody.”
This is one of the initiatives in place that has helped CNM to achieve the status of the safest college campus in New Mexico, a feat the entire college is proud of.
