Columbia University was formed in 1754 as Kings College and is based in New York. The university encompasses two principal campuses: one in Morningside Heights neighborhood and another in Washington Heights. It operates out of three undergraduate schools, thirteen graduate and professional schools, and a school of continuing education. Research is conducted in the fields of medicine, science, the arts and the humanities. Academic programs are offered in the fields of arts and sciences, business, medicine, journalism, social work, law, nursing and public health.
