Why did I choose this university?

‘The MBA program at EWU doesn't require the applicants to have working experience, which is really great for me because I didn't have any job or internship before. The requirements for applying include GPA, GMAT score, etc. and are easy to fulfill as well. The EWU MBA is a 1-year program, which is long enough to provide you a lot of priceless knowledge and skill sets, but short enough to get you fully prepared to jump into the real world of business. So for anyone who doesn't have any working experience before but still wants to have some time to study at school and get ready for a job, EWU MBA is the right choice.’

My first week

‘I met my academic advisor, the MBA director, and the immigration advisor within the first week. They were really nice, helpful, and provided me with a lot of information and support. I still remember that I couldn't attend the first couple of days of the New International Students Orientation; but the immigration advisor was willing to spend time with me, to walk me through all of the things that I need to know as a new international student. So did the academic advisor and the MBA director. Their time are priceless, but they are always available to help and share with students since they understand how hard it is for a newbie to come to the new place.’

My campus

‘All MBA and business classes are in the Spokane (Riverpoint) campus although the main campus is in Cheney. So students have the chance to discover two different campuses while only attending 1 school - EWU! I love the river and small bridge inside the Riverpoint campus. It is so clean and so nice that you can have a walk with friends and watch the ducks swimming while waiting for your next class. In the Cheney campus, I love the library building and the campus mall right in front of it, which has flowing water (and sometimes live music and DJs during the first couple days of every quarter).’

My city

‘Spokane is a big city in term of area, but it is not crowded, noisy and busy like Seattle, Tacoma or Bellevue. And that is one of the reasons why I like it. There are plenty of beautiful landscapes which crowded cities can't offer. Spokane and Cheney are really nice, peaceful and great places to study while you can still enjoy food cultures (Asian, American, European, etc.), outdoor activities (camping, hiking, kayaking, visiting parks, playing paintballs, etc.) and indoor activities (shopping, museums, movie theaters, concerts, etc.).’

My study space

‘I love the libraries on both campuses. The staff are really nice, and the atmosphere is great for individual and group studying. Librarians always know where students can find what they need (for example project researches). Me and my friends usually meet in the library or computer labs (which offer services like scanning, copying, etc.) in some of the buildings before evening classes. Other than that, we usually go to Starbucks, McDonalds or public libraries to finish our homework.’

My social life

‘I volunteer in a few places when I don't have classes, such as Ronald McDonald House Charity of Spokane, The Salvation Army of Spokane, and Second Harvest. Not only can I meet more friends outside of the campus but I can build my social network, enjoy my life, and relax while giving back to the community.’

My home

‘I live off campus, in 1-bedroom apartment, in the South Hill area of Spokane. This place is quiet, beautiful with nice people around. It's only 10 minutes away from school and downtown Spokane. In my apartment, I have my own living room, bedroom, bathroom and common laundry downstairs, so I can invite friends to come over any time I want. I love my apartment because there is a bus system right in front of my house. In case my car doesn't work, the bus can take me to wherever I want like Cheney campus or Spokane Valley within a reasonable amount of time. And the bus is FREE for EWU students with valid student ID. How wonderful is this?’

The MBA program at EWU gives you a comprehensive look at business strategy, management and leadership skills, and provides opportunities to apply your skills and abilities with this new information to solve complex real-world issues. Probably the most important thing I learned was about myself - that "no man is an island", and I am at my best when I work collaboratively with other professionals with complementary skills and knowledge. There are some truly world class professors involved in the MBA program - my advice would be to embrace the challenges presented by the more "difficult" professors because those experiences are the ones that will stick with you. show less
