This academic year presents new challenges for educational establishments worldwide. The academic faculty at GW have risen to these challenges by defining a clear plan to minimize the effects of Covid-19 on the learning experience of its students.
Many courses have transformed into hybrid learning structures, with elements of the curriculum delivered online. Clear safety guidelines are in place, and preventative measures are being taken on the university campus at all times, such as the wearing of masks, and the practice of social distancing.
GW Today, the university’s dedicated news and information hub has released a new online content series called GW All Access. This exciting and engaging new channel demonstrates the adaptability of GW and its commitment to delivering the most comprehensive and accessible learning experience possible. Students are kept up to date on the adjustments being made due to Covid-19 by faculty representatives of different departments within the university.
A new university ranking list has been published by U.S. News & World Report, and GW has seen a continued rise in its position since last year’s report. GW ranked 66th out of 381 national universities, representing a four-point overall improvement since 2019, and a five-point improvement in the academic reputation category. The university also scored well in the Student Debt category, highlighting GW’s ongoing commitment to enhancing student financial assistance, especially in light of present challenges.

George Washington University awards a range of merit scholarships to international students for exceptional achievement. Students who receive these awards are guaranteed to receive financial support for up to ten consecutive semesters if they maintain full-time enrolment. Funding initiatives specifically for international students include:
Eligible undergraduate international students may receive a tuition fee discount to reward their academic excellence.
Eligible undergraduate students who are non-U.S. citizens or non-permanent residents may receive a scholarship to reward their academic excellence.
Eligible international students who are expected to graduate secondary education with an IB diploma may receive an IB scholarship.
Students are usually automatically considered for these scholarships, however they are strongly encouraged to check the availability and eligibility requirements for each.

This is a notification system that can alert students, faculty and staff when necessary. It sends emergency alerts through text messages, emails, residence hall phones, social media and more.
The GW PAL is a mobile safety application that students can download on their smartphones. This allows them to anonymously alert the regional police department of any security concerns, and have their location identified in real-time.
This is GW’s primary website for communicating security-related information to the university community. Students can easily check this for updates about safety concerns.
The university conducts inspections on individual rooms to ensure the safety of GW students in residence halls. Fire drills are conducted regularly and fire extinguishers can be found throughout campus.
The George Washington Police Department provides patrol and residential hall security services. It also takes care of security for various on-campus events.
