Established in 1941 as the Hawaiʻi Vocational School, Hawaiʻi Community college has provided students with access to higher education opportunities, trained a skilled workforce and contributed significantly to the economic development of the County of Hawai'i. The college is a fully-accredited, two-year community college located on Hawai'i Island. The college is one of 10 campuses in the University of Hawai'i system and offers 26 associate degree and certificate programs that aim to equip students to thrive in the workforce after graduation or continue their education at a four-year college or university. In an effort to keep curricula and requirements relevant, Hawaiʻi Community College has invited community leaders in industry, business, and various other professions to serve as advisers in terms of course content, selection of training equipment, and the effectiveness of different programs.
