Kalamazoo Valley Community College is a community college offering associate degrees in 25 different disciplines, a range of occupational or career programs, and the first two years of an undergraduate degree.
Based across four campuses in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Kalamazoo Valley is a fully accredited institution which provides flexibility for students who wish to study in the day, evening, weekend or online. Whatever academic path students are keen to pursue, they will find many suitable options at Kalamazoo Valley.
Kalamazoo Valley works closely with four-year institutions, so students can pursue a bachelor’s degree after completing their college programs. With more than 70 different transfer programs to choose from – in areas such as engineering, business, computer science and nursing – students have the opportunity to earn credits that are fully transferable to a four-year college or university while at Kalamazoo Valley, for a fraction of the standard four-year institution cost.
Boasting a multicultural campus, the college welcomes students from all over the globe to study there. It has a dedicated International Student Services office to assist with needs specific to international students such as immigration and enrolment.
It has an easy open admission system, where students are not required to provide SAT or ACT test scores.

Student brewers from Kalamazoo Valley Community College have recently made their mark at the U.S. Open College Beer Championship. They achieved gold and silver medals and placed joint-third place overall.
The competition was held in Oxford, Ohio, and invites institutions that operate brewing courses to join in to see who the best future brewers in the U.S are. As long as they are approved and submitted by a brewing professor or instructor, the beer can be brewed either on or off campus, and on any system. In 2019, the five categories were: Bavarian, Belgian, IPA, Stout and Open. Open encouraged students to be creative and allowed them to submit any kind of beer that they wished to brew. Kalamazoo Valley finished in joint-third place overall.
Community colleges focus on teaching rather than research. Students at Kalamazoo Valley are able to form close relationships with their professors allowing them to receive dedicated support. The high-quality teaching provided by Kalamazoo Valley is coupled with small class sizes with a student to instructor ratio of 23:1.
Kalamazoo Valley is continuously looking for ways to improve the curriculum and support services on offer to students. Recently, Guided Pathways have been launched. This incorporates new planning tools and advising activities to give students a wide offering of clear and flexible program choices. These pathways include a combination of teaching and practical experiences so students develop the skills required to succeed either at a four-year institution or in the professional world.
Students are allocated a pathway advisor or counsellor to assist them with working out a program plan. They help them to keep on track, as well as form important relationships with both four-year institutions and employers.

Relating to health, medicine and the treatment of disease, including animal health.
Relating to design, engineering, manufacturing, construction and more.
Relating to political, social and economic systems including child care, education and government.
Relating to how the world works through technology, logic and data.

Kalamazoo Valley Community College requires a certain level of English language proficiency, which can be proved in a variety of ways:
The college operates through open admission, so students who submit the required documents, including proof of English language proficiency, will gain admission. SAT or ACT test scores are not required, however will be accepted.
Certain programs, including those in health services need a special application packet. Students may be asked to start in a prerequisite completion program before they can apply to their chosen program. Students are encouraged to check program requirements and get in contact for further information.

The International Student Services is a full-service student support unit to assist international students with immigration, enrolment, and student activities. There is an International and New Student Orientation that takes place when students first arrive to Kalamazoo Valley. During this students will meet international advisors, faculty, staff and their peers, as well as have a session with an academic counsellor and register for their classes.

Kalamazoo Valley has partnerships with many four-year institutions to help students who are interested in transferring and completing a bachelor’s degree after finishing their college programs.
