MiraCosta College has two beautiful campuses, Oceanside and San Elijo near San Diego, California. The community college prides itself its small class sizes, allowing teachers to provide one-to-one attention to students by taking classes averaging around 30 people.
A wide range of support services at MiraCosta is key to student success in university transfer and career development. Students benefit from dedicated academic and career counselors, free tutoring, and extra math and writing help. They can also access an on-campus health center, option for health insurance as well as sports activities. Students have a dedicated Center for Career Studies & Services, providing job-related help to access on-campus and off-campus work.
The college encourages international students to attend, holding regular events throughout the year to help them settle into life abroad. The Associated Student Government runs clubs and organizations for students to get involved in, ranging from special interests such as chess to volunteering opportunities.
The free MiraCosta Intramural Sports program provides a safe and enjoyable environment for students and staff to participate in sports games, stay active and meet new people. Comfortable temperatures are offered all year round in the sunny California climate, with ocean views providing a great place to study.
Both MiraCosta campuses boast impressive facilities, with dedicated Student Centers featuring eating outlets, art galleries, rooftop terraces, libraries and study spaces. The Oceanside campus has a state-of-the-art creative arts building, including a recording studio, rooftop open-air studio and a performance hall, while the San Elijo campus houses over 1,000 computers at its computer lab.
The STEM Learning Centre opened in September 2017 and provides a positive and nurturing learning environment, surrounded by peers, content specialists, tutors and academic counselors for students interested in science, engineering, and computer science. Workshops, independent and group study spaces, reference materials, and scientific equipment are also included. Resources available at the STEM Learning Centre include laptops, textbooks, anatomical and molecular models plus more.
For the 3rd year in a row, MiraCosta students win the prestigious Jack Kent Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship worth $40,000 per year to complete their bachelor’s degrees. Among thousands of applicants nationwide, international student Nhi Tran was one of the 2019 recipients. Nhi will use her scholarship to transfer to U.C. Berkeley for a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry. MiraCosta is the only community college with multiple award winners.

The college also offers support to students to make the right career decisions within the Centre for Career Studies & Services. Also known as the careers center, this facility helps students make informed career decisions. It offers career assessment and counselling to students, as well as credit courses in career and life planning, internships, and co-operative work experience education workshops. All of these tools are geared towards providing students with the necessary the skills to undertake results-oriented jobs and internship searches. Students can build their own online portfolios using the Portfolium tool, plus the center conducts workshops to help use the tool.
MiraCosta College offers a wide range of subjects to students. It guides students down one of six academic and career pathways designed to set students on their way to a successful career. Academic and Career Pathways (ACPs) are a collection of majors with related courses which fit together to guide students towards a fulfilling career. The ACPs include relevant courses, integrated experiences and support services to generate favorable graduate outcomes. Students will join a community of like-minded individuals and can help develop an education plan by narrowing down their choice of majors.

International students are offered the chance to choose from over 50 academic majors at MiraCosta College, covering numerous disciplines ranging from accounting to web design. Students can opt for a two-year degree or transfer to a university with various study options.
International students are guided to reach the university of their dreams by MiraCosta College, with classes transferring to four-year universities including the University of California and California State Universities. MiraCosta College boasts one of the highest transfer rates to the University of California out of all of the community colleges in San Diego County, with students typically earning higher GPA's than non-transfer students.
MiraCosta College offers the following types of degrees: Associate in Arts (A.A.), Associate in Science (A.S.), Associate in Arts for Transfer (A.A.-T), Associate in Science for Transfer (A.S.-T), and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Biomanufacturing.

Certificate programs are designed to provide focused training in a professional career area and prepare students to get high-demand jobs. They can be completed in between one year and eighteen months’ duration, with popular areas of study including child development, design and drafting, graphic design, business management, marketing, recording arts, video and media design.
The English Language Institute (ELI) is a full-time intensive English language program for international students to increase their English proficiency and develop the skills required to be eligible for admission into a college or university in the United States. ELI is deal for students with a minimum of one-year English training at high school or college level.
ELI classes focus on grammar, listening, speaking, academic writing, reading, pronunciation, vocabulary and conversation. There is also attention paid to TOEFL preparation. Classes generally take place at MiraCosta College’s main campus. Each session of the program is eight weeks long, with classes meeting for 20 hours per week. Professionally trained teachers work with small class sizes to give individual attention to each student and greatly enhance the learning experience. Applicants wishing to study at the ELI must submit an application form with proof of financial support.
MiraCosta offers affordable tuition of $8,000 per year for full-time study. A range of scholarships are offered to continuing students each spring semester. Scholarships of $500-$2,000 are offered based on a range of criteria. They may be awarded based on financial need, academic achievement, volunteer service, a specific major and/or certificate program.

Beautiful campus and top notch education! The staff and the professors are very helpful.The library is an amazing place to study. You can use any of their computer.The cafeteria is also a nice place to study. The beach is a few minute away from the campus.
