Portland Community College (PCC) is the largest post-secondary college in Oregon. High-quality education is provided across four campuses.
More than 400 international students from over 60 countries study at PCC. PCC offers over 85 academic programs with options including an ESL program, two-year degrees, and 2+2 university transfer programs. There are many opportunities for student activities, clubs, on-campus jobs, sports, and transfer to top universities.
Located in the center of North Portland, students can enjoy the multicultural community. Programs taught here include in the arts, college transfer, and job training.
The 260-acre campus features plenty of green, natural spaces, a 26,000-square-foot airplane hangar, and 214 permanent art installations. It is also home to the PCC Farm, for students in the Veterinary Technology program and a hangar for the Aviation program.
48 languages are spoken at this campus, where students come from countries including Vietnam, China, Korea, Russia, Latin America, and Ukraine. Situated in Southeast Portland, this campus is the newest to PCC.
Sylvania is the oldest and largest campus at PCC. Students enjoy specialized programs, extensive fitness facilities, the Performing Arts Center, and the MakerLab.
Portland Community College prepares students for the workforce or transferring to four-year institutions. Students can graduate with a 2-year Associate degree, completing their first two years of a bachelor’s degree at PCC, then transfer to a college or university to complete the degree.
F-1 international students may be eligible for one year of OPT which allows F-1 international students to gain practical work experience in their field of study. PCC’s career services can provide a wide range of support services, including help finding jobs and internships, advice on what career to choose, and various job coaching activities. Students can get help building a winning resume, train for interviews, and focus their job search.
Graduates of Portland Community College are well prepared for success in their future studies or career after studying courses focused on foundational skills and professional competencies. At Portland Community College, all students can access high-quality and affordable tuition. Tuition and fees are around half of what it costs to attend a public university in Oregon. Beginning a bachelor’s degree at PCC is more affordable than studying for a whole degree at university.
The college prides itself on being very affordable and offers partial scholarships for current students as well as part-time on-campus jobs and payment plans. The scholarships that PCC offers are for current students and range from USD 500-USD 2,500. The scholarship application process is once per year, and students will need to be enrolled in PCC to be eligible to apply. It usually takes place in the Winter term, and it applies for the following term.

International students must provide academic transcripts from all US schools they have attended.
Requirements for each course can differ depending on the subject and level of study, so it’s recommended that students check the relevant course page for the most up to date information.
Students do not need English language proficiency to attend PCC. All new international students take a placement test during Orientation. Depending on the score, students will take the appropriate English class to reach the necessary standard of English language ability.
Those who have proof of their English language proficiency may be exempt from the ESOL program.
Students must be age 18 or above by the time they begin their first term at PCC. However, some students aged 16 or 17 may be exempt if they meet certain requirements.
International students on an F-1 visa are eligible to study a range of courses at Portland Community College. Each learner’s ideal choice will depend on their academic progress so far, their English language ability, and the subject they want to study.
F-1 International students can study towards an associate degree at the college, which is an undergraduate degree lasting two to three years. It’s also possible to earn a certificate while studying for an associate degree, but these can’t be gained without also studying towards the overall degree qualification.
