As of autumn 2020, the University of North Texas, is offering the only Master of Science degree in Artificial Intelligence in Texas. The new exciting degree is one of only a few programs of its kind nationwide. Students who choose to study the Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence will focus on machine learning, autonomous systems and biomedical engineering. Opportunities will also be given to explore individual interests in AI, and equip students with marketable skills for a career in the industry.
Other innovative degrees at the University of North Texas that prepare you for careers of the future include programs in: Data Science; Advanced Data Analytics; Cyber Security; Sports and Event Management; Digital Retailing; Sustainable Tourism Management; Interaction Design; Game Design; Public Emergency Management; Applied Behavioural Analysis; Health Analytics; Real Estate Management; Biomedical Engineering; and Digital Media and Learning Technologies.
Scheduled to open in autumn 2020, the facility will offer a vast selection of food and drink options, with a seated catering capacity of 750 people. In this new hall there will also be spaces for external vendors and retailers to sell their own produce to students, staff and visitors. Situated close to the new Welcome Center, between the Business Leadership Building and Highland Street Garage, it will be ideally placed for students needing a quick food stop on campus.
The university is a nationally recognized, research led institution. The impressive faculty of 1,600 members of staff frequently engage in ground-breaking research, and in turn encourage their students to complete their own research through creative activities and interactive teaching methods. Throughout the 37 research centers across the university campus, everyday staff and students are undertaking pioneering research.
To improve the research and subsequent teachings and discussions at the university, UNT has formed over 120 global partnerships with research centers and institutions from all over the world. These partnerships provide a network for the exchange of different cultures and ideas, which often touch upon international current affairs. The location of a university campus is of the biggest factors in influencing the cost of student studies in the U.S.A. Studying in the Central and Southern states, like Texas, saves students as much as 25 percent compared to the East and West coast of the U.S.A. Furthermore, tuition fees at public universities tend to be much more affordable than private university tuition and fees.
There are a number of different scholarship opportunities available to international students at UNT, based either on financial need or on academic excellence. The three types of scholarships students can apply for are university scholarships, department-sponsored scholarships and external (non-UNT) scholarships. Scholarships can vary from general (for all students, international and domestic) to country specific.
Entering Freshmen-level undergraduate students with strong scores on the SAT or ACT exams can qualify for the merit based Global Excellence Scholarship, with scholarships ranging from USD 1000 to USD 8000 per year for four years. Additionally, these scholarships can give access to paying only ‘In-state’ tuition, up to a 50 percent cost reduction.
Master-level graduate students can reduce their costs of studying significantly by performing assistantships which are compensated by stipends and also can give access to paying only ‘In-State’ tuition. International students may also qualify to several additional scholarships, such as:
There are 15 halls of residence on campus at the University of North Texas. Types of room vary from private single occupancy, triple occupancy with en-suite and shared bathroom options. All accommodation includes full Wi-Fi coverage, digital cable TV connection, laundry rooms, vending machines, communal study spaces and outdoor grills to make use of on those sunny days. The accommodation is close to Denton which is host to historic buildings, unique shops and a variety of galleries and museums to visit.
UNT offers students a meal plan throughout the year, including summer. This provides students with a number of different purchase options to suit a student’s individual needs, such as the ‘Unlimited Everyday’ plan or the ‘Build your own combo’. There are five different dining halls across the campus, with a new one scheduled to open in August 2020, each providing a delicious selection of food and drink. UNT has been ranked 2nd in the nation for the quality of food at a college by Delish.com, highlighting the first-rate food students, staff and visitors can expect. For students that would like to venture off campus for something different, Denton offers a vast choice of exotic and local Texas favourites, such as barbecue and Mexican food.
The Pohl Recreation Center is a 138,000 square foot building home to a number of sporting activities and equipment for students and members to use. On campus facilities include a leisure pool and spa, climbing wall, tennis courts and indoor soccer pitches as well as outdoor spaces for exercise. Student membership to the Pohl Recreation Center is included as part of the tuition expense through a recreation fee.
