About CDU

Charles Darwin University (CDU), a dual-sector public university, educates more than 22,000 students in Australia’s tropical north and central desert regions. The University has all of the advantages of a new generation multi sector university, including vigour, creativity, flexibility and freedom from the constraints of tradition. Its true character and richness stems from its location in the Northern Territory of Australia.

Study Experience

The University employs 700 highly qualified academic staff; of which almost 40% hold PhDs.  Its teaching facilities and resources, laboratories and libraries are well equipped with modern technologies expected of a 21st century university.

Campuses

The University is home to students from over 55 countries with a multicultural environment that will add richness to student experience. They have the option of being able to study at locations in Darwin, Palmerston,  Melbourne and Sydney.

  • The largest campus is in Darwin: a youthful, multicultural, cosmopolitan, and robust, tropical city in a territory that is steeped in Aboriginal tradition and culture and which enjoys a close interaction with the peoples of Southeast Asia.
  • The Melbourne campus offers study options through a partnership between Charles Darwin University and the Australian Technical and Management College (ATMC).
  • In the Sydney campus, students will  have access to not only the latest technology, but will also be immersed in real-world experiences studying in the heart of Sydney's Central Business District (CBD).
  • The Palmerston campus is set in the tropical bush land within walking distance of Palmerston city centre. Its man-made lake is a lure for bird life and contributes to the relaxed atmosphere of the university grounds.

International Services

CDU’s Office of International Services (OIS) manages the University's international operations. The OIS team has expertise in international relations, institutional partnerships, marketing and recruitment, admissions, student support, student mobility, scholarships, student visas and more. It helps international students feel like a part of the University's community.

There is a wide range of support services available free of charge to all students including counselling, assistance in finding accommodation, careers advice and study support. More about this…
