About Mohawk

Mohawk College is a fully accredited institution, funded by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, and a member of the Association of Community Colleges of Canada (ACCC).   Founded in 1966, it is one of the largest provincially funded Colleges located in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.

The College ranks 15th among all colleges in Canada for applied research activity and has been named among Canada’s greenest employers and the region’s top employers for the past three years.

With over 14,900 full-time students and 42,000 part-time students, the College offers several programs, including 117 diploma, certificate programs and post-grad programs. Mohawk currently has 3200 international students representing 70 countries and is a top educational institution of choice for students from around the World. Mohawk College also provides Cooperative Education for 2,000 co-op students with over 300 companies and 33 programs.

Some of the most popular academic programs include School of Engineering Technology, School of Business, Media and Entertainment, and School of Health Sciences and School of Human Services.

Mohawk College has established a world-wide reputation for its English language instruction. The English for Academic Purposes Program (EAP) offers international students from around the world the opportunity to learn the language from English-speaking Canadian teachers. The program is known for its innovation, leadership, qualified instructors, and highly effective teaching techniques.

The College also allows students to complete their degrees by earning an Applied Diploma from the institution and then transfer to a university to earn a Degree. Mohawk College has signed transfer agreements with institutions that award Advanced Standing into the degree programs, enabling students to earn international credentials.

Mohawk College has over 85,000 alumni and according to the 2015–2016 KPI Graduate Outcome & Satisfaction Survey, 86% of the Mohawk graduates find employment in their fields within 6 months of graduation.

The services offered by Mohawk College include a 100,000-volume library, a 1,000-seat theatre, a new recreation centre, a radio station, and a large student centre. Students have unlimited access to the internet in the open access computer labs. International Students also have a home away from home at the ‘International Square’ where advising, program and financial support can be provided. The Language and Culture Centre also hosts events for international students and the rest of the student body throughout the year and celebrates international holidays.
